There wasn’t much time that Trump said or did something that was actually correct in some way. It is hard to think of just how few times such a thing actually happened. But I’m going to include those rare moments in this post.
The
one he seemed to get the most criticism for was when he said that women who got
an illegal abortion should face some sort of punishment. But if something is a
crime, then there should be a punishment for it. It was even hypothethical at
the time. I don’t know what the best punishment should be in this case, but in
places where it is a crime, then there should be some sort of punishment as all
crimes should have.
North
Korea was handled poorly at first and then Trump actually handled it better
later. While one might question whether or not we should be cozying up to
dictators like that, it should be us trying to make sure that they are not a
threat while also being ready to turn on them when they cross a line at a
moment’s notice. It was like how the Cuban thaw worked under Obama.
ISIS
was something that was unlikely that a president could get wrong. Trump didn’t
take out the whole threat of ISIS (as we would later learn during the fall of
Kabul), but he was right to take a hard line on them and could take out their
former leader, Mr. Bagheady Bad Guy (I don’t like to call a mass killer by
their real name, if I say their name at all or just their label).
When
it came to non-essential businesses reopening, Trump did at one point say that
it should not happen. This was perhaps the only thing that he got right and
only very briefly when it came to his handling of the pandemic. And it came
with him turning on his once ally Brad Rafenberger after once endorcing his
terrible ideas. Remember the last political post on Trump?
I
realize that there is a current event that I will cover two days from now
because you will see this blog both Saturday and Sunday in addition to today (which
is Friday in partial blogger time since I’m getting to this too late). Anyways,
enjoy this post and await another two soon.
