It will forever be absurd that people will defend the belief that we need confederate statues or other things like that. But while it will never make sense to celebrate the people that rebelled against the country, this post is not about the confederates of the past, a post planned for later. This post is about the ones that exist nowadays.
Who
are the modern day confederates? They are many. Mostly, they are those who
stormed the capitol. Why would they be celebrated? They shouldn’t be. But we
have a traitor who was killed while she committed insurrection and is treated
as a martyr instead of a lesson. People who did this terrible thing are
referred to as patriots by themselves and others.
Why
are they loved by the wrong? There are various reasons. But you’d think that
the party that loves to point out how they were on the correct side during the
Civil War (and rarely, if ever, since) wouldn’t side with insurrectionists. But
they shamelessly do.
