Episode from 2-17-2019

There’s not much that I can think of putting in this introduction just yet outside of me wanting to tell you about a great show called Saturday Night Live that I hope that you all watch. It is one of the most topical shows that you’ll ever see on TV. I’ll admit that they can be political in a way that isn’t all that good even if it is the side that I normally agree with. But I suggest that you watch it if you can and have the chance to.

I’ve decided to start the movie update here and split it into multiple parts throughout this post. I will just tell you know that I had no time on any of these Saturdays to watch movies like I would have wanted to so that will be when the splits will take place. So let’s start with the long update. Hancock was replaced by Enchanted after it was watched on Sunday. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was watched and replaced by The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on Monday. It doesn’t have any foreign subtitle options that I use from time to time.

On Wednesday, I decided to use a special scab list that I have and watched what I consider to be a movie length special of a Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue tape of the first three episodes of the season. It was then replaced by Rain Man. On Friday, I watched Tower Heist and that was replaced by Pocahontas. Family visiting all these weekends took up time to watch movies on Saturdays.

On this show, I had trouble for a bit telling the difference between Blake and Jay. Well, I think that I now know what to do. All I have to do is remember the boss of Cloud Cookoo Land and the reversal that was in there. The good Mumbo in that level of Banjo Tooie has the minjo while the bad Mumbo has the jinjo. Jinjos are good and what you need to help progress in the game while minjos are bad enemies that are merely pretending to be jinjos. Well, Blake isn’t straight, but he has the straight hair. Meanwhile, Jay is straight, but he has curly hair. This should hopefully help me keep the two straight (no pun intended) in the future, if it makes sense to you.

Since I’m now sharing links from old episodes of The Good Wife, I thought that I would finally get to the next episode that aired after the 3D printed gun episode of that show. Well, the next episode was about the election night of one of the episodes. There were potential issues with someone affected the votes by saying someone had it in the bag before votes were cast. But then he helped this person, his wife, by hosting a last minute rally to prevent votes from happening. I doubt that’s legal and hope that is has not ever happened in the history of any country. How would you rectify such a mistake? They also talk about the abortion issue in the episode. I’ll always be pro-life in most cases.

Back to movie updates. The Best Years of Our Lives was watched on Sunday and replaced by Bambi. On Monday, Back to the Secret Garden was watched and replaced by Bend it Like Beckham. On Tuesday, The Land before Time was watched and replaced by National Treasure. On Friday, Vantage Point was watched and replaced by Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.

Now, I’m going to finally talk about the 2019 Kentucky governor race. Matt Bevin is the incumbent and a Republican. It took him a while to announce that he’ll be in the race. It might be the reason that there are a lot of other Republicans in the race. Something notable about Matt is that he is changing running mates this time around. Matt seems to have a bunch of strange views on things. He did challenge Mitch McConnell when Mitch last ran for reelection. I think that Matt might be a populist. I found it a bit funny when he ran back in 2015 that I largely only saw negative commercials for him with a few positive and none that talked about the other candidate in the race and he won. This didn’t help Judy Bar Topika win the election for Illinois governor in 2006.

There are currently three other Republicans running for governor as well. Robert Goforth is a state rep, Ike Lawrence once ran for mayor of Lexington, and William Woods once ran for the Kentucky House of Representatives. I could find barely any info on any of these people. Still, if I had to endorse one of these four people for the governor race, I’d go with Robert Goforth.

Now let’s get to the Democrats in the race. Rocky Adkins is the current minority leader of the Kentucky State House of Representatives. Andy Beshear is the attorney general of Kentucky and son of a former governor of the state. Adam Edelen is a former auditor of sorts. Geoff Young has run for office a lot and was even once part of the Green Party at one point. I don’t know much about the candidates, but I will say that Andy Beshear is the best choice from this party.

I’m going to get to a more updated election schedule again. I don’t know all the dates for sure. What I have listed for 2020’s elections might only apply to presidential races and not other statewide races, so I can only hope to have something more concrete listed in the future when I know things for sure.

You might have heard about the recent news that was released about Joni Ernst, the junior senator from Iowa. It has come out that she was raped at least once. While you may have noticed her on my rotation of people who I’m counting down until their election in 2020, I’ve decided that out of respect for her over this news that she didn’t want out there, I won’t be focusing on trying to get rid of her. I may yet change my mind on this, but won’t for at least a year after I mentioned her in my rotation.

Also, note that if you see me mention politicians that aren’t up for reelection until 2022 or 2024, they are currently placeholders until after the 2020 elections has taken place when they might be replaced by other politicians up for reelection that year.

Speaking of 2020, I might have a certain way that I’ll do updates on the presidential race. I might go back and forth between posting about the Democratic side of things and the Republican side. But I might not have a Republican race to keep track of if no one other than Trump is in the race. I don’t know yet what I will do as a result.

Since you’ve seen random updates of this blog because not enough posts in my TV blog caused this to be updated instead, you might wonder what I should do since I do annually themed posts in that blog. Well, maybe from this point forward, I should discontinue blog posts that aren’t well read. I also wonder if I should discontinue political posts should I update my Good Wife blog in case any of those weren’t as well read in this blog. But I don’t know yet whether or not I will. I especially don’t want to get rid of any posts that I feel have become trademarks of my TV blog.

After John McCain died, it seemed like there would be ongoing issues with his seat. For one, it seemed that there wasn’t enough time to put the special election to replace his seat with the 2018 elections like maybe it should have been. Losers of the primary for Jeff Flake’s seat could just run in that election or losers of the regular 2018 senate election could run in the special election if it was done later. Here is where we get to some of the issues with the seat.

John McCain’s replacement decided to resign before the new Congress would start. A Democrat had won the regular election and the Republican she beat was then appointed to the vacant seat. That sounds messed up and has to be controversial. I cannot imagine that a Democrat could have been appointed and gotten away with it.

With all of this talk about the Russia investigation, people are quick to point out that it seems it will not ever link back to Trump, even though that doesn’t discredit all of the people who have yet been found guilty of the probe or pleaded that way. I never thought that the investigation would link back to a new found person: Mitch McConnell. I can only hope that this damages him, although this doesn’t make me a good person, now, does it? Well, I have a bunch of links about this story.

There once was a man named Mitch
Who might have had a hitch
When it came to Russia
He sure tried to crush a
Story putting his party in a ditch

Before I get any further, I should mention that I might not do Daily Kos that much as I don’t feel that it is as good a source to bring up a lot of the time. I’ll try to find better sources if and when I can. Sure, they do have good stories from time to time that are written well. But, more often than not, they just have some sort of blatant slant to their stories and if I want to share them, I might as well post that warning that they just aren’t as good as I would like them to be, even though there may not be anything else that I find on the subject in question.

On Sunday, I was able to see two movies. First, I rolled the choice that I had on the list the longest. After I saw The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, I replaced it with Pleasantville. Then, I used another scab list to watch Toy Story and replaced it with Toy Story 2. I hope that I can see the original trilogy before the next installment comes in June.

On Monday, Rush Hour 2 was watched and replaced by Mr. Bean’s Holiday. On Tuesday, Rogue One was watched and replaced by Raising Arizona. I might share some videos about that movie in the future to compliment what I shared about it in my Elementary blog. The last movie that I was able to see before spending the weekend away from home was Fireproof on Friday that was then replaced by Flight of the Phoenix. I didn’t have time for a movie on Saturday or Sunday. I wouldn’t have gone with one from my list on Sunday anyways if I did have time to watch a movie then.

Today’s episode is brought to you by no delay. We begin with a flashback to 1983. Talking Heads is on the speakers that people are listening to. It is the song Burning Down the House so that might be some important thing relating to the episode. People are waiting for a meeting to happen between people and I forget where this is. There then appears to be an explosion of sorts as the rebels decided to rebel on the rebels, if I have that right.

Nicaragua might have a civil war on its hands. That seems to be the country that is being focused upon this episode. But Elizabeth, as usual, has a potential solution. It is likely that it won’t work right away as other ways of doing it will work later. Russell wants to look for a way to improve his image and Stevie is there for this meeting as usual.

Henry wants to get through the situation that someone he knows is going through. I missed what that was about so can hopefully pick up what happened later. Blake, Jay, and Matt all have different things to talk about that I can’t quite follow well. Elizabeth talks to Ming who never seems to help with anything until he does want to. Why is he on this show? Is it just some sort of foil that’s badly written most of the time? And what does China have to do with Nicaragua in this episode? A video shows that missionaries from America are barricaded in a church in Nicaragua saying that the Nicaraguan president is a killer, but I miss some of the details of what’s going on as usual. I’ve had a long day.

In segment two, we got back to the flashback storyline. What is this, Arrow? The two men from earlier go into a place to talk about what happened. These people are talking to a young Conrad about this. We learn of the death of the president in the past and its effects on what is going on. It might not be Conrad in the flashback, but is probably him as they mentioned a Mr. Dalton.

Conrad learns about Russia’s interest in Nicaragua while Elizabeth looks for another solution. The person who is the current president of Nicaragua (I need to know names!) is ready to commit mass murder. It seems that Russell, who is now on twitter, doesn’t want to do much right now. Rebecca, who is part of the people in danger of dying (there’s probably a better name that I don’t know of offhand), posts a new video on the situation. A friend of possibly Alison’s freaks out other the situation, but I can’t tell who this friend is or why she is there.

Elizabeth talks to someone about what’s going on. This is the son of the president who had issues when his mother was killed that relates to the flashback storyline of some sort. I am not at all focused on this like I should be. I’m really tired. This son doesn’t want a deal and Elizabeth wants to know about what happened in the past that caused the first civil war in Nicaragua.

In segment three, Elizabeth talks to her husband about important things as usual. He mentions whatever seemingly unimportant thing he has going on. Elizabeth talks to Ming some more about the issues and she does not get much of anything yet. Russell winds up with a lot of stuffed pandas due to it being revealed that he is into a live feed of a panda from a zoo. He needs to be sure that he’s thought of as tough and succeeds in scaring Stevie a whole lot.

It turns out that the random woman is related to the McCords, maybe, and is stressed out about being a medic for the military. But the guy who was almost the lead of Back to the Future is able to help her by saying how all she needs is sleep to avoid staying being stressed. She can actually sleep easier than I can because stress can cause me not to sleep which in turn causes me stress. There are more issues with what is going on with the Nicaraguan situation.

In segment four, we return to 1983 in Nicaragua. Someone is possibly kidnapped. He explains how the US is accidentally responsible for what happened. He mentions that he will never negotiate a solution after the attempted assassination of himself that was not intended to happen. Conrad feels bad about what happened even though he was there back then. While the dictator then stepped down, it is hard not to feel as if things are repeating themselves. Russell appears in a photo with one of his stuffed panda bears. Conrad then goes meeting the son of this person and possibly current leader.

In segment five, Conrad talks about what happened and whoever this leader is and there seems to be a solution that was met. Issues seem to be okay after the father of the current president meets about the situation and it was the grandson of someone and I cannot pretend that I’m into this episode as well as I should be. I might need a power nap. Russell talks to Stevie about how she was able to save the day and a vote was able to be passed. Some random little girl is there, but I don’t quite understand who she is or why she is there.

On the next Madam Secretary, a girl of some sort causes issues that I missed. I got drained today. Sorry about that. The next episode won’t be until two weeks from now. The Oscars are on and I don’t know if they will be hostless or get someone at the last minute. I don’t know if I’ll care about it or not. It will all depend on if I like whoever hosts or not. I’ll be back then with the next blog post. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Politics: Would Mike Pence as President be Good?

Whether you love him or hate him, you might want Mike Pence to become president tomorrow if that would mean Trump is no longer in office. Sure, you don’t want Trump to die (I at least hope so), but you want his administration to end. But would changes be an improvement?

There’s a post that I hope to do later talking about all the politicians with missing emails and it seems that Mike Pence is one of them. His account was actually hacked and I feel that he just does not have the right to criticize someone over something that he did.

His criticisms of Bill Clinton regarding Bill’s affairs are hypocritical as he never said anything bad about Trump over his alleged affairs. All he did was say that this person was lying. But I guess that Democrats should always be condemned for wrongdoing and Republicans should always be excused since they clearly wouldn’t do such things.

One of the more notable things that he did was the NFL stunt where he attended the beginning of a game only to leave once players knelt during it. This was at the request of Trump. To think: he spent all that money on a ticket just to not see the game in the end. I don’t know if he would have wanted to miss the game on his own.

When it seems that Trump needs a lapdog, Mike is more than often the person who steps up to the plate in order to be that person. Any time Trump needs someone important on his side, Mike steps in and becomes that person who agrees with Trump on certain issues.

Another more important thing is that he’s largely silent on some issues. This may contradict my previous paragraph in some ways, but Mike actually knows when to be silent. This may help him in the future or it could actually backfire with him as the person who never spoke up when he by all means should have.

If he has any main good things going for him, it is his Christian ways. Unlike Trump, Mike really is a Christian. However, due to issues with the gay community, I don’t know if he could wind up overcoming his actual biases with them and could wind up further deteriorating what the public thinks about Christians to the point that any good reputation that they are supposed to have just does not exist anymore.

With all the problems that Trump has caused and could continue to cause, Mike ascending to the office of presidency might be a welcome change. It just might not be as good of a change as we were wanting. Plus, as of at least January 21st, if he ascends to the presidency, he would get to run for two full terms as president instead of just one. I’d prefer him as president to Trump. But I would not want him in that high office for any other reason.
