Episode from 3-25-2018

Now I should finally tell you about the next level of teams that I’ll root for in terms of football. Due to the hurricanes last year, I’m going to root for any of the teams with locations affected by them. This means that I’ll root for the Houston Texans as one of the teams. Of the other four teams, they only played and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This gives them 0 out of 1 point. As for the Jaguars, they beat the Texans and lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This gives them 1 out of 2 points.

Figuring out the Buccaneers next, they beat the Jaguars and beat the Miami Dolphins. This gives them 2 out of 2 points. As for the Dolphins, they have 0 out of 1 point for losing to the Buccaneers. I guess that I can only rank the Buccaneers as the highest, Jaguars as second highest, and wait until there is a game played between the Dolphins and Texans before I can rank those two teams. Of course, I might have to change the order of what tier one teams that I root for. But I’ll wait until the next post to do that. There are always games that need to be played in the future. In addition to the Dolphins and Texans needing to play each other, the Texans and Buccaneers as well as the Dolphins and Jaguars need to play each other as well in order for my full ranking to work.

Who I’m still into with March Madness: Duke, Kansas, and Texas A & M. I might add another team to this list, but I don’t know for sure yet if I will. It all depends on what might air before this show tonight. If nothing airs right before it, then I’m set with these three teams until the end as all the others that I care about have already been eliminated.

With me keeping track of the primary elections of the states of Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Indiana, you might remember who I suggested to vote for in each primary should that state be voting for if they were electing a senator, governor, or both. What I was not sure of is when some of the primaries are happening. I know that Illinois’s election happened on March 20th. I learned that Missouri’s is April 3rd. Now if I only knew for sure when the other ones are, I’d be sure to post the dates here. If you want to know my suggestions as to who to vote for in each election, you’d have to check the archives from October onward and let me know if any are in need of updating.

For anyone who reads this blog that supports Trump, why do you do that? What makes you think that he’s a good person? Would a good person fire someone who is two days away from retiring? At least I heard about people who hired him so he would still be able to acquire retirement benefits. I do wonder why people think that Trump has done more than Obama ever has. What has he done that was any good? I know that Trump appointed a lot of judges. But these were vacancies that had happened while Obama was still president that Republican’ts in natural fashion refused to act on. So if the work is just now getting done, that is not the accomplishment that people think it is. And we still don’t know for sure if this new tax code will be any good.

With me not liking either the Democrat or the Republican’t in the race for Illinois governor, I can at least hope that ending the current administration is a good idea. This line of thinking failed me back in 2014, but it could prove better this time. What’s notable is that Eric Gretiens, a person who endorsed Bruce Rauner, is having problems of his own and this could hurt Bruce.

Texas A & M has been eliminated from the tournament by Michigan. Kansas and Duke both won their games and will now have to face each other in the elite 8. Only one can win and continue. And I don’t think that I’ll be getting another team this time around, based on what I saw of scheduling.

It is Kansas and Duke playing each other in the game before shows start on CBS. I think that I would rather Kansas win. But I’d be okay with either team winning. What I need to do is see which teams should be my anti-teams by beating teams that I root for. But I’ll only care if the winner of this game gets eliminated from the tournament at the semi-finals before the championship game.

After six, I’m still watching the game because I have seen the episode of Bob’s Burgers that is airing. Right now, Duke is winning the game, but there has been a lot of back and forth with it. The game then gets tied and goes to overtime. A person is taken out of the game due to injury. The game gets tied again. Duke then takes the lead. The game gets tied again. Kansas then takes the lead. They stop the game for a while over who last touched the ball. Kansas keeps raising the score and winds up winning the game.

Now the last two out of three years, the winner of this game (whatever one aired before Sundays on primetime on CBS the second week) won the tournament. It might have happened the other time should they have aired a game on CBS the second week (they didn’t for some reason, although it might have been to avoid airing something on Easter, and this was 2016, I believe). Will history repeat itself? And do you know what I’m talking about? I guess that we’ll see what ends up happening.

Today’s episode is brought to you by 35 minute delay. We begin with a flashback to ten years ago and Conrad is talking to a group of people. He says that his quest for public office is ending. He had missed a debate. But what happened? We then get to a medical exam being done by his doctor. Russell tells Conrad about a newly elected person of some country. It sounds similar to a Nelson Mandela situation. Alison learns that her aunt named Marine (well, probably spelt differently, but that’s what I’m going to stick with) will be coming over. We then get to the person who they are talking about. Conrad seems to be reluctant to returning to office until he is sure that he’s healthy again.

In segment two, we get to more of the crisis of the week. What is it? Well, I don’t quite understand. But there seems to be a Buddhist versus Muslim mentality going on. But this might be somewhere other than the place with the new president. I’m confused by this. Marine is then seen at the McCord house. Cat has issues trying to resolve her problem with whatever issue is going on. The acting president wants to wait until Conrad is back in charge to make a decision, but Russell urges her to go ahead anyways.

In segment three, Conrad talks to his wife about something. We then go back to when he was running for governor. But some sort of crisis comes up at a debate. He has an emergency and has to leave before the debate happens. His brother was in the hospital and suffered from delusions. Henry gives another of his grand speeches to one of his children. In a rarity, it isn’t Jason on the receiving end of this speech. Elizabeth thinks that the problem at hand is ethnic cleansing and she wants to make sure that doesn’t happen. There are problems that are shown with drawings that Elizabeth is trying to explain.

In segment four, Marine, Henry, and Alison are at a restaurant. There is bickering between Henry and Marine. I think that they must be siblings. I still don’t understand the crisis of the episode. What is going on and why? Does Conrad still want to be president? He isn’t sure if he can trust himself because he is still upset over almost messing up by wanting to strike Russia.

It is at this point around the 10:25 mark that I start watching this. It is the start of a new act, so that’s good. There is a flashback to ten years ago. We see a young Russell who is meeting with Conrad, the future president. Conrad thinks that he’s not cut out for politics. He lost an election of some sort. He missed a debate, but we don’t know why, or I don’t, having not yet seen the earlier part of this episode.

There are family issues that keep Russell up at night. We then return to the present when Conrad meets with some important person who might be a president of some country yet is also a refugee? Is that right? 3% of a country needs saved. A Buddhist saying is brought up for some reason. Alison is hosting her aunt named Marine who is there for some reason. They want to play some sort of card game. They are playing for cookies. The country that is the focus today is Burma, I think. Will it always be a different country? There is a PSA at the end and some sort of singing that I don’t quite get.

On the next Madam Secretary, Conrad is back and wants to lift sanctions on some place, only Elizabeth doesn’t like this. There aren’t going to be problems with him being back in charge, is there? It seems that there will be a new episode next week on Easter. I hope that I don’t miss it, but I have a two day turnaround for posting it in case I can’t see it live. Meanwhile, this will affect two other blogs of mine and I hope that it can be good that they are published on this time. Things are getting kind of busy for me. But I think that things should work out well in the end, hopefully. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode from 3-18-2018

While I said that I would get into the tier two teams of football that I will be rooting for in the future, I have not been able to do any research and don’t think that I’ll have time this week. Just know that the four new teams that I’ll be rooting for are the Texans, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Buccaneers. Hopefully, I’ll be able to rank them.

For now, I need to get into March Madness. There is a complicated and possible convoluted process that I have for rooting for various different teams in the tournament. I’ll only point out the ones that are in the tournament and not ones that I’d root for if they weren’t. Also, any team from North Carolina will not get its separate root for section this year since they aren’t banned from hosting.

Let’s start with the oldest team first. Wichita State is in this so I will root for them. Duke is in this, so I will root for them. Since they have won in the past, I won’t care too much if they are eliminated. I also care about Oklahoma in the tournament. Kansas is another team that I care about. North Carolina is in this as well. And, while it has yet to qualify by certain rules, I’m putting in Butler as well.

I hope that I can see the game that aired before primetime on CBS. I knew that I would have to work on Sunday. But I am able to see some of the game. It is North Carolina against Texas A & M. North Carolina is losing by around twenty points. Even if they lose this, I will be rooting for the winning team of this game. I doubt that the defending champs would want to lose to a seventh seeded team when they are a second seeded team. But I learned of a far more humiliating loss that has happened in the tournament with the type of upset that has never happened before.

While I didn’t have time to look up the scores of games online so I know who all that I care about is still in the tournament, I can look it up in a newspaper that I have. This will not contain all of what has been played on Sunday, but that can always be covered later. That is the procrastinator’s motto: Do it later! And if you’ve read this blog before this season, you’ll know just how late these posts have come.

Wichita State lost to Marshall, the lower seeded team. Duke won round one and round two so they will be in the sweet sixteen. Oklahoma lost to Rhode Island. Rhode Island was later eliminated from the tournament. Kansas won round one and two so they will be in the sweet sixteen. Butler won round one and while they played a game earlier today, I don’t yet know the result of the game. Maybe it will air as a result with the game on CBS.

At six, I largely switch to watching Bob’s Burgers and checking up on the score of the game during the breaks of Bob’s Burgers. Texas A & M is still winning the game, which is to be expected. I do promise to check the final score later online if I miss it and can’t figure out for sure who won.

60 Minutes has started around 6:38. I don’t know who won for sure yet. What I do know for sure is that Butler lost their game to Purdue. This means that there is only one game result that I need to check at some point in time. Also, prepare to be confused by this post.

A final result of the game has the winner being Texas A & M. Now last year had a match-up between a team that I cared about and a team that I didn’t that aired at the right time that ensured that even if the team that I liked was beaten, I’d still be rooting for the winning team in the end. Now that didn’t happen as the team that won was a team of interest. But it wouldn’t have been that way earlier were it not for the anti-boycott that I was doing then. That basically means that it gets to stay this year.

To make everything even more interesting, North Carolina was that team and it won the whole entire tournament last year anyways. Next week’s post will tell you which teams I’m still into and if I’m adding any more to my teams of interest thing or not. Besides, only one team can win and they are bound to fight each other at some point in time.

Today’s episode is brought to you by 37 minute delay. We begin in Abkhazia. Where is that? I think that it is a real place because it isn’t underlined in red on this computer of mine. There is a woman who is walking through the street. She seems to be going to this safe house or something like that. It seems that police come and beat up people there. It might have been a club and not a safe house. The team talks about the issue at hand. Elizabeth threatens to cut off aid to the leader of this country for not doing the right human rights stuff that they should be doing. Henry might be doing shadowy stuff. Matt wants to rope someone into doing trivia night with him. They see a video of someone who was tortured and this leads them to wanting to help these people find asylum.

In segment two, the team works with Bulgaria to try to resolve this situation. Jason is called into the office and people oooo at him, even though this doesn’t actually happen. Matt still wants to work on the whole trivia night thing. Jason doesn’t want to talk about what happened although we don’t know what it is yet. I’ve already seen other parts of this episode so I already know what has happened. Kat talks about someone who is dealing with a threenager. So is my cousin, who is a mother.

Kat says that she is bi-sexual or pan-sexual, even though there is a difference between the two of them. (Since they are doing all these different types of sexual orientation, perhaps they should have a person who is hetroflexible.) Isn’t some guy on this show bi-sexual? I think that Blake is, but I think that Kat is talking to Jay. Although I’m going to get confused about this later in part of this that was already written. A person has closed the borders and the refugees are stuck.

It is at this point around the 10:00 mark that I start watching. I believe that it is now the start of the third act of the show. Kat tries to figure out the solution to the problem of human trafficking or refugee problem that she is talking to Blake (I think) about. And this relates once again to LGBT people. I can’t make sense of this just yet as I haven’t yet seen the first part of this episode. Some people in the team are at a trivia night. Maybe it is because I haven’t ever been to one that makes me wonder if they are as weird as they seem here.

It seems that the people are getting drunk. Who is this red haired woman? And why must they always be so weird? My ex-girlfriend has red hair. Let’s not talk about her again. Jason doesn’t want to talk about some sort of situation that’s affecting him. I have the feeling that it might relate to concussions. Or, perhaps, he is merely doing poorly in school. But who is this random doctor person that he is talking to? Wait, he got a perfect score on something and is worried? Why, exactly?

Blake tells Kat about the situation at hand that is going on. We then see people being taken from a vehicle of some sort. They seem to be afraid of something although they might be being rescued. And I need to do more research into this Ted Kennedy incident that seems to have left a person dead. Speaking of the Kennedys, Chris Kennedy, the son of Robert Kennedy, will find out today whether or not he won the primary for governor of the state of Illinois. How distracted am I being?

In the next segment, people on the team are talking about winning, but it seems like they are talking about the trivia night and not the whatever thingy is going on internationally. Blake thinks that Matt should date the one lady. I don’t know if that’s a good idea. But I know nothing about her just yet. People talk more about what is going on. Where the heck is Elizabeth in this episode? Speaking of her, she shows up again.

Elizabeth talks about what has happened internationally that I don’t understand yet, but may write more about later after I see the beginning of this episode. It seems that the team agreed to work with people that they probably shouldn’t have. Elizabeth ends up doing a tough speech on her two people and I’m not sure that I know the difference between Jay and Blake. Jay was the person working with Kat and Blake was probably the person at the trivia night place. I don’t think that the same person was doing both things. I got really distracted by an iphone commercial about unlocking with a look. I think that Prue Hallowell can do that.

In the next segment, Henry and Jason talk about his perfect score on the PSAT. Jason was talking to his doctor uncle. I need a child at some point so he or she can have an uncle who is a doctor. Good thing he’s not a doctor yet. Henry had found out about the score because of an email that the principal had sent him. Will, this uncle, wasn’t that good at talking to Jason, but Henry talks better about the whole thing.

Elizabeth and Henry talk more about the various things going on in each other’s lives. Henry gets some sort of medal, possibly. That’s yet another thing that I don’t yet get because I can’t even watch this episode in the right order. This problem might happen again twice more this year. It seems that the refugee situation was resolved. There is a problem because of the way they went about saving the people. There are now some sort of lasting issues because of this.

On the next Madam Secretary, there is a country (presumably this one), that is at a crossroads of some sort. This might be lingering issues because of this episode and that could be what all the problems are about. I should be back next week. I don’t know what will be happening on Easter, but if you read other blogs of mine, you’d be glad if there is a new episode of this on Easter.

Palm Sunday is next week. It seems like Lent just started and is now almost over again. But don’t worry about this blog. If I ever miss a new episode of this show, I have at least two days to watch it before I have to blog about it. I might even have more if things change with when things are updated. I should see you next Tuesday. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode from 3-11-2018

Since I didn’t get to much of it in the last post, here is what I promised to start telling you about. With the sports of football, hockey, and baseball, I have anti-teams where I root for whoever is playing the team. If you are the lowest level, I always root for the team that is playing against you. If you are the next lowest level, I will only root for you if you are playing the main anti-team.

With football, I now have four anti-teams. The lowest level is the fucking Patriots who are on there for a good reason: beating the Rams in the 2002 Super Bowl. The next level anti-team is the Chicago Bears due to my distaste for all things Chicago. The third level anti-team is the Arizona Cardinals because they left St. Louis long before I cared about any teams. And now the Atlanta Falcons are anti-team four. At least they are out of the play-offs now. After the Super Bowl, I’ll get into the new four teams that I’ll be rooting for after the nine that I already do. I might even root for the Eagles after the other teams that I’m rooting for as well. I hope to explain more soon, when I'm not too busy with things.

If you have paid attention to the news: good for you. Most of the sources that I use to keep track of the news are real ones. In fact, I haven’t read The Onion in a really long time and almost don’t even care about it anymore even if it is normally funny when I’ve read it. It almost seems irrelevant in this era of Trumpism that I spend any time with news satire. He thinks that everything is fake news. But he has yet to call out something that actually was fake.

Stephen Glass is someone who made up news stories and he got in huge trouble for it, making the place he worked for (interesting, the only in-flight magazine of Air Force One) look bad when they fired him and they admitted what happened. People don’t seem to realize how bad it is to fabricate news. I have the feeling that Trump really did call countries shitholes and once the news got wind of this, he went on the usual attack. Trump is a well known liar with little to no creditability. Why would tons of different news sources be getting things wrong all the time and him be the only reliable source?

As potential Russian collusion continues to dominate the headlines, Trump continues to act guilty of something when an innocent or at least smarter person would just let the investigation happen and see what will become of it instead of trying to thwart every effort into trying to find the truth. During all this, I found a much better story that has nothing to do with the Russians that could be the end of Trump and his administration. If it is true, it would explain the October surprise by James Comey that might have been the reason Hilary Clinton lost the election.

You might be wondering why I’m always reading Time this late. I procrastinate. Of course, you probably knew this already if you were a fan of this blog from the beginning as this is the fourth season of the show and the first time that I’m actually doing the posts shortly after a new episode aired. I try to make sure that I’m never a whole year behind on Time. But it has an interesting life. The person who first gets the copy of Time that I read is my grandfather. Then, it goes to my mother. After that, I read it. Then my brother gets it rather late yet still reads some of what he cares about.

If I left a note for him saying that I want the copy back, then I will get it back at some point which is when I will do the random paragraph in Russian that I do from time to time. Just know that you will only see one Russian paragraph per post even though I might have more written and translated before then. That is why you could get a lot. And I’ll keep doing them for as long as I want to, even if Trump has left office. People are already counting down the days like others did with Obama.

Now for something that isn’t political. You see, I had been alternating between watching seasons one of NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS. Well, the next episode in line in NCIS: Los Angeles is a Christmas one, so I’ll be taking it out of my rotation so NCIS season 1 can stay in the main place on the list for a while. I hope that I can do the next change in time, but I think that I will be shaking things up for a while.

Now back to political things. I may alternate between random political things and random other things, but since there was such a long time without a new episode, there’s a lot to talk about. For one, there is this memo that I just don’t understand at all. Is it supposed to be downright confusing? If the answer is no, I have yet to see something to disprove that.

There is a notable schedule change to tell you about. You see, Timeless is returning and will air at the same time as this show. I’m only telling you this because I’m going to be watching Timeless like I did with 10 Days in the Valley when it aired. I just hope that Timeless comes in when I want it to.

Illinois United States Senator Tammy Duckworth is pregnant. It’s nice knowing that Ted Cruz isn’t the only baby in the senate right now. Of course, I do wonder what important votes could end up happening around the time of the baby’s birth. Knowing Republican’ts, they would wait until such a time to bring up important legislation. If only Tammy were in the Illinois senate. Then, people would vote with her switch on her behalf. Of course, they shouldn’t be doing that, yet it happens. I wish that I were making it up, but I have seen video proof of it happening.

When it comes to the rolling list of mine, The Andy Griffith Show episodes that were on the list has since been taken off. It will be replaced by Survivor: Borneo. I will tell you in this blog in a different font what all the times I roll and watch a new episode will be. This could also affect when blogs of mine, including this one, are updated. I’ll explain in other posts why posts might be changed. Also be on the lookout for political posts to start on Saturdays in the future. This makes my current list of choices Charmed season 3, Farscape season 3, NCIS season 1, Survivor: Borneo, mystery choice #2, and recorded shows on tape. Survivor is currently number four on the list.

Eric Greitens, the Republican’t governor of Missouri, seems to be in growing problems. He might have tried to do something akin to revenge porn if not exactly that. Now he was actually indicted on charges. Could he wind up being the next governor to resign? Will he be impeached? Or will this be a dent in his continuing governorship? This could even affect the completely unrelated race for US Senate in that state. Maybe I’ll have to ask my Missourian brother more about this sometime. I just don’t know if he is following the story or not. But Alabama had problems with a governor. Could Missouri be next?

You may know from reading other blogs of mine that I have a list of movies that I like to watch from. It has fallen into a bit of a state of disrepair. I have only one list now with three choices on it instead of six. I will be going back to six choices whenever I can. I’ll then be adding other lists as needed. I just know that when I roll a Survivor episode, I have to update my TV blog (although this will change if the roll is on a Saturday). And I will want other blogs not to change when they are posted.

This means that if I roll something that conflicts with the following days of the week: Thursdays (Survivor blog now, will be Elementary blog later), Wednesdays (Survivor from the end of March until around at least December), or Tuesdays (this blog, potentially, although it is subject to change and last in line), I’ll want to expand the choices and put a new movie list on one of those days.

This Trump presidency has made me feel a way that I never thought I would: I miss George W Bush. I mean, Bush might have been a bad president, but at least he was and is a nice guy. He just couldn’t really lead the country well. He might suffer from the same problems that Bruce Rauner does. Well, Bruce has the partisanship problem to deal with that I don’t think that Bush did (at least, not to the same, extreme levels that Bruce does). But I might remember Bush better than I have in the past.

I need to talk more about sports here in this blog. March Madness starts sometime this month. But I need to mention the tier two teams of football (there’s four of them to add) that I will be rooting for. I might even need to rearrange the order of the nine main ones that I root for and I’ll add the Eagles to the teams too, maybe at tier three.

Let’s see if I can quickly go through all of the political things that I think are relevant in some way or another. There is a rumor that Mitt Romney could be secretary of state, only it supposedly did not happen because the Russians didn’t approve. I don’t buy this. Romney was never a supporter of Trump. Alabama has voted to get rid of special elections. Maybe they’ll regret it someday like I hope that the Republican’ts regret doing the nuclear option for Supreme Court justices.

Speaking of that, what’s with all these rumors that Anthony Kennedy is going to retire? Is there any truth to them? And relating to gerrymandering, I’d appreciate the Democrats trying to get rid of it if only I knew that they have never benefited from it themselves. Also, the Russian trolls should learn English and not attack people in the Republican Party that they consider to be RINOs.

Republican’ts sure like to attack the Clintons as if they matter still to the general world. Even Monica Lewinsky is joining the attack by suddenly saying that her relationship with him wasn’t consensual despite having never claimed that for over 20 years thus far. But they should never be quick to point the finger at someone considering all of the issues that Stormy Daniels brings to the already complicated relationship that Trump brings to their party. If they want to look good, they wouldn’t be so quick to forgive someone who isn’t even sorry or admitting that he did something wrong.

I’m now on page four of this blog post and I have talked very little about Madam Secretary thus far. I wonder if there are some people who don’t even read this blog for the part on the show that I do always get to in non-purely political posts. Or there might be people who just ignore everything except what relates to this show in question. I wonder if I should start mentioning the cast member who left this cast to see what her future career will be now.

There’s a show called Deception that will be airing against this show. I would be interested in it, but I don’t think that I care enough. Plus, it looks like it could just be Castle with a magician instead of a writer and thus, not very original.

It turns out that there wasn’t much on tonight on TV. FOX preempted their planned programming for some dumb O J Simpson special. I could not care less about him. I think that society as a whole would be better off if they just take their obsession with the case and let it go. I don’t have an opinion about him and feel that I shouldn’t have to. I was a freaking toddler when the case was happening. Why do so many people care about something that they can’t change? If he confessed, that wouldn’t be able to overturn his innocent plea. That’s not how US law works regarding double jeopardy. I will ignore any and all things that focus on him. I shouldn’t even be writing this paragraph as that gives the impression that I do care about the whole thing.

There is something else to tell you about. I will be watching the new show Instinct when it starts. If I like it, then I’ll probably keep watching it until the end. It was supposed to start tonight, but it didn’t as they pushed it back a week. I don’t know why they changed it. But with March Madness happening and them likely to have shows delayed next week, you’d have to wonder why they cut it for an additional episode of 60 Minutes. If I had to guess, I’d say that they didn’t want ratings to be affected by the time change and thought that March Madness could boost the ratings of it.

Today’s episode is brought to you by no delay. We begin with Alison arriving home from college for a bit to get away from a roommate that she feels is clingy. Elizabeth meets with the acting president and a person from Sri Lanka. There are spirits talking to the person who says that they shouldn’t do the whole trade deal thing. Kat seems to be the most skeptical of the whole thing. The man says that Daisy will find love again, Matt feels lonely, and Kat should accept a call from her brother. Alison arrives back at her campus where it seems that her roommate attempted suicide.

In segment two, we learn that the roommate survived what happened. This person had suffered from anxiety and depression in the past. Elizabeth is able to change the terms of the original deal so that the spirits would look kindly upon it. Alison thinks that Jason broke her nightlight which leads to a fight between the two of them. His controller is broken because of the fight.

In segment three, Alison continues to feel affected by what was going on. They bring up the family member that died because of suicide. Was that last season? I’d have to remember when it aired so that I can look it up again for more information. There are more issues with the trade deal. Matt wonders if he is the lost love of Daisy that she should wind up with.

In segment four, the roommate has to move out. China might be taking advantage of the situation with the Sri Lanki country by giving them a bad deal of some sort. Elizabeth still needs to straighten some things out for things to work out well.

In segment five, the acting president thinks that they should pull out of the trade deal since someone was trying to pull a fast one. It seems to some that they might have wasted their time with the whole deal. Maybe Matt will try to be back with Daisy again. But will it happen? Elizabeth and Henry are really concerned about Alison and she decides to live at home for at least the rest of the semester.

On the next Madam Secretary, there was a bad deal, it seems, and bad things happen because of the bad deal. What all does this mean? I don’t know. It is hard to tell for sure. Remember that new blog posts will be on Tuesdays. This was on a Wednesday because I moved it for the day in favor of another blog of mine. But these posts will be on Tuesdays until further notice. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Politics: Following the Illinois Attorney General Race 2018

Since there will be an open seat on the ballot for Attorney General this year, I thought it would be best to make a special post about the election in question. We should be lucky that we get to vote as to who this person will be instead of it being appointed and approved by people we vote for instead, giving us no say into who the person will be.

For reasons largely unknown at the time, Lisa Madigan, the incumbent attorney general, is not running for another term she was likely to win. Why would she do this? I don’t know. Maybe she wants to distance herself from her step-father, Illinois Speaker of the House, Mike Madigan. Or, and I want to stress that this is 100% speculation, Mike could be under investigation or need to be investigated and she wouldn’t want to do that. But Lisa could have a future in politics doing something else entirely. She could even go on to be president. But enough about her. Let’s look towards the candidates in the race, starting with the Democrats.

Pat Quinn is the former governor of this state. I still have no idea if the rumors that he was under investigation were complete BS or not. They might have been. I don’t know if he should return to public office or not. While I’m thinking that he wasn’t as bad a person now, I might be seeing things in rose colored glasses now that we have a new mess. In the state of Illinois, it is worth remembering that attorney general is third in line to the governorship. I don’t think that he should have this power of office, but that’s just me. Still, I don’t think he would win anyways.

Renato Mariotti is a former prosecutor who seemingly has not held elective office before. But this is a race where one shouldn’t need the experience of elected office in order to do a good job. But there is something that he or someone in his team did that really annoyed me. I didn’t know who he was and randomly wound up getting emails from him that I know I didn’t sign up for. I don’t even know how he got one of my email addresses. This is a major black spot for me against him. I don’t know if I’d vote for him if he wins the primary and I wouldn’t vote for him in the primary myself. Besides, as good as it is to be against the incumbent governor of Illinois and president of this country, I’d need more of a platform than that. At least he was a prosecutor at one point in time.

Scott Drury is an Illinois House member. He seems like he’s an anti-Democrat Democrat. Now that’s not a bad thing per say. It would be if he was still running for governor. But he’s not. When it comes to needing to prosecute the law breakers of the state, he’ll need to go after members of his own party. He could be the best person in this race.

Sharon Fairley doesn’t seem to have any political experience. She seems to go after police officers in some way, based on what her current job is. You might find more information about her online. (I think this is a her, but I might be wrong.) In the age of black lives matter, with many problems regarding police brutality, maybe making sure that police are held responsible isn’t that bad an idea. But we can’t go after people who we know normally protect lives. Are there some dirty cops in the system? Yes. Are there cops shooting people who they shouldn’t be? Yes. But we should remember that most of them are good people already. And don’t believe all of the television and movie stories.

Aaron Goldstein might be the person in the race with the biggest black spot against him, which is saying something since Pat Quinn is also in the race. I don’t think that he did anything bad, but he was Rod Blagojevich’s lawyer. Well, someone had to defend him. And Aaron might have put far more effort into the case than Rod ever did. (Then again, he might have seen this as an easy, open and shut case and was surprised like everyone was that the first case ended in a mistrial.) I don’t know if he should be granted the best of all the lawyer jobs in the state (and one that would be the opposite of what a defense attorney does), but I don’t know much about him. I’d still pass on him, though.

Kwame Raoul is an Illinois senator and has had experience prosecuting cases. But there is an issue with him regarding a potential conflict of interest regarding a tobacco company that was making contributes to him while they are at odds with the current attorney general. He might be a good candidate in the race, but I can’t tell for sure.

Nancy Rotering is the mayor of Highland Park. I can’t find any other information about her. One of the important parts to note that I’ll get to more on later is whether someone who has political experience or someone who has prosecution experience in the courtroom. I can’t find any proof that she was ever in the courtroom as a lawyer. That doesn’t mean that she wasn’t. I just have limited information and I’m not doing as much research as I probably could.

Jesse Ruiz is the Chicago Park District president. That’s all that I know about him or her. I don’t even know for sure the gender of some of these people as that’s how limited my information is. So I’ll switch to the two Republicans in the race.

Erika Harold is an attorney and may as well be the nominee with all the endorsements she has gotten from the Republican Party. Whether or not she’ll win the general election if she does win the primary might be her time in the Bush campaign, but I don’t know if people will care that much about the former president. Indeed, she may not prove much of an impact on the race that might as well a Democratic primary baring any potential problem from its winner.

Gary Grasso is a former mayor and current county board member. I did a poll that was clearly not in support of him and raised some good points about why he shouldn’t be elected, although I don’t remember what they are offhand. The Republican primary will come down in my mind to if people want someone with courtroom experience or someone who has held elective office. In most cases, I think that someone with experience should win. But attorney general might be the better choice to ignore if they’ve ever held office.

As I close this blog post, I might as well get to who I think should win from each side. I think that if you are voting in the Democratic primary, you should vote for Scott Drury, although Kwame Raoul might be a good choice too. On the Republican side, I’d vote for Erika Harold and not because she has a ton of endorsements. Remember that the primary is on March 20th. And as you vote, wonder if it should be state attorney generals like I think that it should be, or if it should be state attorneys general like so many places write.
