Politics: Sellout or Lack of Backbone? Republicans’ Main Problem

It seemed like it was a simple thing to do. All Republicans had to do was say how bad Trump would be and stick to their guns with why they shouldn’t stick with him. Now that Trump is in charge, rarely do you hear Republicans continue their complaints about him. Those that do are ostracized by their own party. They lose their place in office. But why can’t they agree that Trump is terrible and shouldn’t be in charge? Why are they often not doing more than they are? Is it because they are sellouts or a lack of backbone?

While they might not have courage, it is more likely that they are sellouts. They will accept all the open and legal donations to do whatever terrible things these people want. The NRA makes it so that the Republican Party has far more power than it otherwise could. Sure, we have the occasional mass shooting, but why prevent someone on the no fly list from buying a gun? It would make their campaigns have less money than they would like.

And why solve the dangerous crisis of climate change or even admit that it exists at all? You should not anger the dying coal industry that gives the rest of their money to our campaigns. They are hurting the environment, but who cares about places we never visit in the cities that we live in? Why even care about plants? They may give us life, but we won’t be here for long with all these disasters to take over. They’ll be the next generation’s problem to solve.

Of course, it could be that Republicans are invertebrates or creatures without backbones. That might not be the case in every situation, but they seem to be full of talk and not actually doing anything to support what they say. Jeff Flake may have talked about all of the terrible things that Trump liked to do, but barely stood against him. He didn’t even run in the primary since he might have just lost it anyways. We’ll never know. But he could have been a vote against Brett Kavanaugh or various other issues. Instead, he lack the nerve to do anything.

I could be wrong about a lot of things regarding the Republicans. Maybe they are nicer people than I would believe that they could be. Or maybe they care too much about their legal donations and the people who give them this money that they wouldn’t dare cross them. All I know is that they have problems nowadays that I can only hope are solved in time.

Politics: The Email Problem

I thought of an idea for this post quite some time ago. With Hillary Clinton’s emails being so overblown, it made me wonder why we don’t hear that much about all the other politicians that have some sort of email controversy. I gathered as many as I knew about and will offer some other thoughts about the whole thing as well.

Let’s start with the initial person known with missing emails: George W Bush. We knew about this all the way back in 2007 while he was still in office. If you thought that Hillary’s thousands of missing emails were bad, imagine losing millions. However, a key difference might be that his missing emails might be more of a result of accident than intentional misconduct. Still, he lost way more and might have prevented himself from being prosecuted further.

You probably wouldn’t expect Donald Trump to have missing emails, but he does. I wonder why so many conservatives still think that Hillary should have be sent to jail, but they completely ignore (or maybe don’t know) about Trump’s missing emails. While it is likely that whatever Hillary had done was a mistake, Trump’s emails that went missing were intentionally destroyed by him or his officials, possibly to hide his affair with a porn star or other things that have come to light about him that people don’t care about.

Now we get to Mike Pence. His might be more well known since his personal email account was hacked. His problems came to light shortly after the 2016 election happened. I don’t think that he was missing anything. But he used the wrong address for official business.

Another person worth mentioning is Mitt Romney and his missing emails. His weren’t that big a deal at any time, it seems. It didn’t seem to affect him in his senate election. Now you can read the link provided and let me know if you think it should be more of a deal than it is.

The only person that I wasn’t able to find a link to about in research for this article was Pat McCrory. I know about him based on an article that ran in 2016 entitled “Amid uproar, rivals for N.C. governor use private email” written by Emery P Dalesio. A quote from this article says, “McCrory’s staff stopped in September providing the private email records sought by the AP and wouldn’t respond when asked about their progress.” I cut the article out of a newspaper when it ran so there’s no link to share here about it.

Now we get to Roy Cooper. In case you thought this blog post would only cover Republicans, it only seems fair to point out that he and others in this article are Democrats. But he doesn’t have any problems that we know of for sure. They just think that something might have happened. He just might be a smart person who avoids using email to avoid potential problems with it. Instead, people are convinced that he is misusing what’s going on.

While it might be hard in this post not to just include random examples of people that might have just had some sort of email issue, Rahm Emanuel nonetheless makes the list. He might be doing something shady with email or maybe is just accused of something shady. Read this article and decide for yourself what to think.

Jared Kushner is a person in the Trump family who seems to have issues with email. This is one of those cases where he clearly should have known better. You aren’t supposed to use a private app for government business.

Next is Ivanka Trump. She was doing more or less the same thing that Hillary Clinton had done. Well, she didn’t delete or lose any emails. But she used a personal account to send government emails on it seemed to me that people just shrugged it off and didn’t care that much about the misuse that she was doing.

The one person you’d least likely suspect of email mismanagement would be James Comey who was investigating Hillary Clinton for that same thing. But here he was, doing government business on a private email. He did the same thing that she did, really.

One of the most recent people that I know of with this problem was Betsy Devos. She used her personal account to do government business. This happens a lot, it seems. I might have an idea about how to change that in the future.

The last person that I’m going to share is just a random one that I figure is worth mentioning. One should not delete official government emails ever. But that is what this guy did. If you want to read more about this random person, enjoy this link.

There could be more people than what we know that I found for this article. I thought that I would tell you about all that I knew about and let you decide for yourself what to think about them based on the links that I could provide. Maybe you don’t care or maybe you didn’t know about all these people before. Well, consider yourself informed.

Now is there a solution to the email problem? I would argue that there is. Instead of making all of the politicians stop using their personal accounts, they should be monitored on all of the accounts that they use and keep using. Their personal accounts should become as open as the government ones are to anyone who needs to see what’s going on. As long as they know that this would be expected of them to have all of their emails constantly tracked, you’d think that they would be more careful with everything in the future and not have to worry about this rule that no one cares about when it isn’t Hillary Clinton facing it.

That’s all for this post that I can think of for now. Maybe I’ll learn more later about all of the people who have missing emails that I don’t know about just yet. I would more than love to keep track of anyone and everyone who should know better by now about how things work regarding emails in this country.

Politics: The Wrong’s Strange Quest to Keep Hilary Clinton Relevant

In case you are confused by the title of this post, the wrong is what I call conservatives because they are right and thus shouldn’t be called the right. As for the rest of the title, I can explain that as I go along. I’ve heard the expression that you should never kick a man when they are down. That logic must not apply to women according to Republican’ts. Hilary Clinton will forever have to live with the fact that with 3,000,000 more votes, she lost the presidency to Trump. She might always be down. But they seem to want to keep her relevant for some odd reason.

Why would they want to keep a presidential election loser relevant? Do they not remember that there have been times in the past where this person ran again and won? Now that hasn’t been a thing since Richard Nixon ran in 1968. But it seems odd that they love the continued attacks of this woman as if they will forever subscribe to the theory that she would have been a worse president than Trump, one that is laughably wrong.

One of the common problems with Republican’ts is known as whataboutism. The phrase, “but her emails,” seems to be one of the most prime examples of that. It doesn’t matter anything that the Republican’ts do wrong. What about the Democrat’s problems? Thus, anyone that might have had a connection to her is a problem. And if there is one thing that the wrong always does is compare anyone running for office to someone they find unfavorable. Nowadays, Hilary Clinton still might be the most unfavorable Democrat around and Republican’ts like to remind people of that over and over again.

It might not be a bad idea for Republican’ts to keep bringing up someone that even most people from the Democratic Party don’t like and still don’t like. While she may be done with politics for the rest of her life, they want to remind people that she exists still and is bad for people. That is why, even though she isn’t relevant to the world anymore, they keep trying to make it seem like she is because it is someone to blame things for while not taking responsibility for negative actions that their own party faces on a regular basis.

Whatever the reason behind it, they want to remind people that a person who would have been a far better president than Trump is still a bad choice. Never mind that Trump destroyed emails in his system or that the Niger attack was basically the same thing as Benghazi. Never mind that if Hilary Clinton were claiming to be the chosen one, her mental health would have been put out so far that the 25th Amendment might have been invoked. She wouldn’t have gotten away with trying to ban Muslims or separating kids from the parents just because they came here illegally. But she’s certainly someone that they love attacking until the next Democrat becomes president and they can attack this person instead.

So whatever the reason, their hearts or we, Republican’ts stand their reminding you of she. She is not important to the world anymore, being outside of politics. But as long as she’s still around, and maybe even long after her death, conservatives want to remind you of her if only so they can have someone else to blame for their own problems.

Politics: Why do Doomed Candidates Win Primaries?

I’ve seen something nowadays often enough that I’m starting to wonder why it always seems to be the case year after year. Some people are certain to lose an election in the future. Yet they still seem to win the primary against challengers in their party. Why is that? I honestly don’t know, but still thought that I would share thoughts about this with you.

It happened in Illinois in both 2014 and 2018. The incumbent governor was doomed to lose the election. He faced a primary challenge that he won. He then lost the general election. But I wonder still why he win the primary when people should have known that he was doomed to lose at some point in the process.

This could happen yet again with Trump. While some people are convinced that he will win again, I don’t see it as happening. But the question remains: will he win the primary? Well, it is not like he isn’t facing competition from other Republicans in the primary. But the last incumbent president to lose renomination was Chester Alan Arthur. And that was before primaries were a thing. Plus, I have heard that Republicans are trying to avoid primaries in some places at least for the presidency to make sure that Trump wins it. They should know better considering all of the crap that they gave Democrats for the supposed rigging of things against Bernie Sanders.

I may never know for sure why doomed candidates win primaries. Maybe people figure that there will not be any real competition in the primary and just gloomy go with a bad choice as they still think that’s the only thing that will work. That’s what happened with Herbert Hoover. He got to run for president again, but there was no way he could win. Maybe they know that they will lose and figure that they should just let them lose for some reason.

Maybe someone else can explain what’s going on. Of course, I may not know enough primaries to know for sure if doomed candidates are able to lose it to someone else. It is hard to know all of the primaries that happen and if I’m wrong about the candidates who are certain to lose in the general still winning in the primary. Besides, it is hard to tell for sure what will happen in all of the elections in the future.
