Episode from 12-23-2018

I’m not entirely sure yet when the next new episode of this show will air. What I do know is that it will probably air against The Golden Globes when they are on. This leads me to wonder: will I even care about The Golden Globes this year? There have been times where I ignore all but the shows that I blog about and other times where I try to record or watch all of the shows that I do in addition to The Golden Globes. If the CW shows are still on hiatus, I won’t have anything to worry about. But I might not watch the award shows at all because I’m simply losing interest in general.

As for an update on the Missouri senate race, this was one of the more disappointing results. And it wasn’t just because a Republican won a seat that a Democrat had. Josh Hawley, who won, lied a whole lot and was generally an ass in different ways. Claire McCaskill, who lost, was one of the greatest people in the whole senate. I still hope that she becomes president in the future. A lot of the losses that had happened in the senate were moderate Democrats losing to Republicans. I guess that some people just don’t want someone working with the other party when they could simply be the other party.

I’ve said it before and I could say it again, but there are times when you might see paragraphs other than Russian in a regular blog post. I don’t think that I’ll do more than one in a single blog post. So if you see a Russian paragraph, you won’t see a Chinese paragraph. I may yet do Spanish paragraphs. There is a possibility that I will do Korean paragraphs in the future. And I might even do Latin, if there’s a reason for it that I can think of and if there is an option for it in google translate.

After I had mentioned the Indiana senate election, I had talked about my donations to various politicians this election cycle, the first time that I had ever done it. There were four donations total before the main elections. There was a fifth donation for the special senate election in Mississippi. I had hoped that Mike Espy would win. But he did not. Since two of the donations failed by virtue of the people not winning, this means that they will be reassigned for the future. In fact, the same amount will be given twice. One won’t happen again until 2024, when the class one senators are up for reelection again. The others will affect the class two senate candidates in 2020.

Now some of you my know some of my facebook habits. One of them is the election countdowns that I do from time to time. How will you know if I want someone out of office? Well, starting in 2019, I will do a rotation of sorts. If someone is up for reelection in 2020 that I want to lose, I will mention them by name. I’ll start with the main two senate elections that I care about. I’ll then mention the governor race. Then I’ll mention the lesser two senate elections that will only be on the list since two of the people I supported in 2018 lost. Then I’ll mention the presidential race before going back to the other set in the rotation again.

Note that I will certainly be supporting two senators and will change these in the lesser races no matter what. Also note that I’ll probably mention other elections that will be beyond 2020, but I won’t say for sure if those people have to be worried yet or not because I don’t know if I will donate to their opponents or not. It will depend on what happens in 2020.

You might wonder if I will mention in here other elections than the main one. Honestly, I might want to find an alternate blog for politically themed posts. In fact, it might work best if they are in a blog about the show The Good Fight. I’ll only start a blog about that for sure if I had the first season on DVD. But I could do political posts in that blog that aren’t in here. Also, you might wonder if I’d continue updates of politics in any blog if this show were to end.

I had thought that this show might be able to avoid the fate that all shows in this timeslot do. But I no longer think that that will be the case. The ratings are lower than they should be and it could be more of a problem down the line. This show could end this season and only network tradition could keep it alive. But network tradition didn’t keep Scorpion alive. There are a whole list of other blogs that could be in the future for me to create based on other TV shows. But are there any that air on CBS or the CW that could be political enough for me to make the blog partly that?

While the show Salvation was political, it has been cancelled and now I won’t be blogging about it. I did want to at one point when it was delayed to when Elementary aired, but I never did do this and I think that it worked out for the best that it didn’t exist after all.

Before I get any further, I might as well talk about the child separation policy, as I think that will be the focus of this episode somehow since I saw the name of it. And I haven’t thought about what I should do as a limerick in this post yet, so here one is.

This is the 100^th episode of the show and seems like it might be a two parter, at least. But I’m annoyed that they are airing this the day before Christmas Eve. Don’t they know that people are celebrating the holiday of Festivus today? I should air this as a grievance on the Festivus pole. I have family over and am still taking a gamble into hoping that I can see some of the episode on that day or the next day.

They could have aired this last week. I don’t think most people would have been annoyed by the 30 minute delay because we are used to delays during Super Bowl season. I hope to record this or have the chance to watch it later online. But for OCD reasons, I have to have posted or scheduled this blog for December 24^th to keep this rotation going that I have. I’ll let you know what happens and I might not post about the whole episode, which I have done only once before in this blog.

I have the chance to check and switch between the two games that are on FOX and CBS. The game on FOX ran longer than they were expecting. It is the Bears and 49ers playing with the Bears winning. The game on CBS is between the Saints and the Steelers. The Steelers are winning. I stay with the FOX game until the end and the Bears win, unfortunately.

Switching back to the Steelers game, the Saints take the lead in the game after a touchdown of sorts that people weren’t sure of somehow. I guess that I’m not the only one confused about how football works if even those who normally watch the game didn’t realize it at first. The Saints wind up winning in the end after a close game where the Steelers tried to score, but couldn’t.

Today’s episode is brought to you by 57 minute delay. We begin with people near the Mexico border at the state of Arizona. A mother and child arrive in the United States. They are seeking asylum here. This is when the child and parent are separated. The woman learns that she is under arrest instead of being taken under asylum. The child is put on a bus with other children to a detention facility.

Elizabeth and Henry are at a dance class and are about to renew their vows. Apparently, Elizabeth was pregnant which changed the wedding plans. Can Hollywood stop doing this? I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen in real life when people get married because of that and stay together. But you shouldn’t make it seem like nearly everybody does this. Jay calls Elizabeth about the child separation policy, this version being implemented in Arizona by that state’s governor. Conrad and Elizabeth talk to him. He didn’t like the foreign policy deal that Conrad had done and wants a boarder wall. The Arizona statute might be unconstitutional. Elizabeth wants to work with the senator from Arizona to try to get their way. If this is based on real life, he’s going to die with a sense of goodness gone just like John McCain.

In segment two, Jay and Blake are at a basketball game when Jay gets accidently injured. The man who had hurt him wants pot legalized in order to help limit the power drug cartels. I think that I need to put a link in here that I got from confirmation bias about why you shouldn’t do pot. In fact, I might have put this link in my blog before. There is no preliminary injection on the issue and they have to settle it later in court. Russell thinks that the judge has bias and the judge admits to it since he wasn’t chosen for an appellate court. Matt goes on a rant with a possibly random woman about Wynn, who was the election night hook-up that Daisy had two seasons ago and the person who injured Jay in this episode. Elizabeth tries to reason with the senator, whose name I can’t remember right now. Maybe he’s not a caricature of any real person. He doesn’t want to go against his state.

The McCord kids talk about different things relating to the sort of wedding. The band she had booked has broken up at the last minute. I don’t think that I’ve been to a wedding with a band. I’ve been to one with a wedding singer who was also a DJ. Russell learns that the judge has real estate that is affected by Governor Barker of Arizona. Russell is hesitant about whether or not they should bring the information forward but Elizabeth wants to make sure that it is.

In segment three, Jay talks to the senator about his Cuban heritage and why he is against what Conrad wants. They both know Spanish. I don’t recall Jay being revealed to speak that before. I don’t like it if there are just random things brought up that weren’t important before. They talk to a different judge and seems like she’s about to side with Russell’s side, but gets information that causes her to change her mind based on another case that went to the court. Elizabeth talks to Mike, whoever that is, about the renewal of vows that she’s doing. He wants it public to increase her chances of having a run for office, but she wants it private.

The Mexican president talks about issues. It seems like there’s no solution until Henry convinces them to keep going for a solution. Elizabeth wants to visit one of these places to show her support for her allies in Mexico. Russell thinks that it could hurt her chances of running for president.

In segment four, Elizabeth arrives with Cat at a detention facility and there are protestors outside. I am so glad that we are seeing Cat for a change. A person tries to prevent them from entering the place with an ambassador, but a law means that they have to come right in and surrender their phones. Wynn then brings a gift to Daisy that has pot in it. You know, they are doing a good job at making these people look like weirdos. Elizabeth, Cat, and the ambassador see children in cages.

In segment five, we continue with Elizabeth looking at the various people there. She wants a diaper to be changed, but has issues with it. Governor Barker comes in there saying that Elizabeth is trespassing and a sheriff is here to arrest her. He wants them to leave peacefully. She shows up on live TV and she talks to people there about the center. She gets arrested on live TV. This sort of thing hasn’t happened in the US before, according to them. Sure enough, the episode is to be continued…

There are no scenes from next time so I’ll be back when the next episode is. I should have a post for all of the Mondays in January, regardless of if a new episode airs then there not. My Tuesday posts are now done then for a while. I’m glad that I was able to see this and schedule it for the next day after it had aired. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Politics: George Bush I Presidential Analysis

I thought that I would add on an introduction explaining the reintroduction of the section of this blog’s political posts which is more of a potpourri section. I wasn’t going to do that right away, but I thought that I would since I wanted to address the death of the 41^st president of the United States and tell you about him in the best way that I hope that I’m doing.

Let’s start with some facts about him. He is the most recent one term president and most recent president to have lost reelection. He was president when I was born. He helped start a tradition of leaving letters for his successor, even if his predecessor technically did it first. He is one of four people to go directly from the vice-presidency to the presidency via direct election. He is the most recent president who faced no impeachment attempts against him. There might be other facts besides that that I can’t remember right now.

Something that people aren’t lying or overblown about when they are talking about George is how he might have been the most qualified person who was elected president. (Whether or not he was the most experienced person to ever run for president is a bit debated.) He served in the military at the youngest age possible, being one of the youngest pilots ever in the navy. He was then a representative in Congress, an ambassador to the United Nations, a chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Director of the CIA.

After becoming vice-president, he was careful not to set a precedent by avoiding to land at the office the way a president would. He was the first acting president for 8 hours on 7-13-1985. He seemingly made it seem that vice-presidential debates mean absolutely nothing in politics after his poor performance in one in 1984 did little but make himself feel displeased in the campaign. He was the first person since Hoover to succeed his own party via direct election.

A remarkable feat happened during his term. The collapse of Communism, quite a good thing, had happened. Whether it just happened under his term or because of others before him, it was quite a good thing to happen to the world, outside of the few remaining countries that still have it in the end. Another good thing that happened was him helping to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act.

While president, he was able to put two different people on the Supreme Court. The first was a man named David Souter. This nomination was not want George actually wanted in the end as David wound up being more liberal leaning than George was looking for. David has since left the court during the Obama administration and is still alive as of this post.

The other person he put on the court was Clarence Thomas, only the second black justice on the court who was replacing the first black justice on the court. His was a contentious fight and left him with 48 negative votes, the most negative votes ever, a record later tied by the newest justice on the court. Clarence is now the longest serving of all of the justices still on the court.

There were some controversies with his time as president and elsewhere in life. The way I see it, there were three main issues that had happened with him over the course of his time on this planet. One of them was that he nominated a man to the Supreme Court who was accused of sexual harassment. That person still got through onto the court, but it might have been a bad precedent to set.

When he was a lame duck, he pardoned people relating to the Iran-Contra Affair and thus became investigated for it himself. He was also accused of sexual harassment himself later in life, although this might have been due to misunderstandings, old man problems, or him simply wanting to put his arms around someone, but forgetting that you can’t do that when you are in a wheelchair due to their lack of reach to places arms normally could reach.

Still, I would say that George was a pretty good person and a good leader too. He might have been the most recent Republican president to be a good president when he was in office. I do not think that he had many failures, other than what I just mentioned about. I will miss him and hope that he rests in peace. I leave you with this quote from him that people need to keep in mind today if they want to be regarded well in this world.

Episode from 12-9-2018

Something that was airing against this show was The Alec Baldwin show. I might have cared about it if it didn’t air against this show. But it did. Now it will be burning off the last of its episodes on Saturdays in the future since it didn’t get good enough ratings. At least it ends better than the last time he had a talk show. But it didn’t end as well as it could have. It wouldn’t be ending this soon into its first season if it was ending well. I wonder if I'll be able to see any of it before it ends. I won't be too upset if I don't.

I have the feeling that I might be talking a lot about Wisconsin in the future in this blog. With all of the crazy shit that has been going on there lately, I’m glad that I don’t live there. And I live in Illinois, so what does that say about me? You’d think that things would be going well since Republican’t Scott Walker, who was the incumbent governor since 2011, lost reelection to Democrat Tony Evers. In fact, it might have been seen as good revenge since Tony was part of education and Scott was against it.

Still, with Scott still in office until January 7^th, the lame ducks are proving to be quite vengeful, and this is despite the fact that Republican’ts will still control the general assembly after the new term starts. As soon as they learn that the governor of the state won’t be one of them, they decide that they do need checks and balances instead of someone like Scott who kept a firm choke hold on how things ran in their state. And what better way to do that then by working on what appears to be the ultimate of all of the Republican’t powers: gerrymandering.

Often, when people do terrible things in the middle of the night, they are committing crimes. In the case of politicians from Wisconsin, they are working to get rid of the governor’s powers since they will have someone of the other party in charge. I remember being a college student and working on projects at late times during the night. A lot of college students do this. But you’d think that politicians would know better than to continue to rush through terrible legislation so quickly.

It turns out that people in Michigan are also doing terrible things as well. You can learn bad things from your neighbors, it seems. But it doesn’t seem like the Republicans care that they will still be in control of the state of Wisconsin. Sure, they won’t have a governor of their party anymore, but you can block any bit of progress that Tony tries to make like they did with Obama nationally. It just doesn’t seem like they were patient into waiting for this until Tony took office. Well, all I can say is that I hope that you read these links and remember the shit that happened in Wisconsin. Hopefully, people from both sides can learn not to do this sort of thing in the future.

Switching things up for a bit, I realize that I might need to do a top ten video game bosses that describe Trump in the future if I can think of enough. Another one that works is Mr. Patch from Banjo Tooie. Like Trump, he is full of himself, way bigger than he should be, takes a lot to bring down, and is the star of the huge circus of the world in question that he’s a part of.

Movie update: Now getting to the last of the movie updates from this year, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was finally finished being watched and is now The Muppets Take Manhattan. The last update of the year is that The Little Mermaid is now Lilo and Stitch. Due to Christmas taking place this month, I will be watching those movies instead of normal ones. Now there might be some more of the regular watching that I’ll do later, but I’ll only do it if I finish watching all of the Christmas things first.

Before I get to what is on before primetime, I might as well talk about the character on this show called Cat. She was introduced partway into the last season and hasn’t been featured as much as she could be. Why is she so underdeveloped? They need to do more with her character. She often isn’t on the show, which seems dumb in some ways.

When I check what is on before primetime, I see that neither of my CBS affiliates are showing football. FOX is showing an Eagles versus Cowboys game. It was a tie when I first checked it. Aw, snap! They are rival teams, if I’m remembering correctly. That’s what I remember from an episode of The Goldbergs. I haven’t seen as much as that as I would like. Since I’d root for the Eagles over the Cowboys, the Eagles wind up losing after the other team gets a touchdown.

I decide to watch the on time 60 Minutes during the meantime. I don’t check the score for a while. I do like the segment on screen addiction. It is a good thing to see after a movie earlier in the day and while I write on my laptop while watching the show with no plan to turn my laptop off until after midnight. And you have to love how social media keeps people alone in their house, connecting with each other from their private residence instead of in real life.

Checking the score again, the game is tied again and they are in overtime. Wasn’t there already a tied game in the NFL this season? I don’t know why it would be. I’d have to check place to know for sure. I hope that I find out what happens next. I’m pretty sure that the score showed the Cowboys winning in the end by three points. Checking the score later proves this as right.

Today’s episode is brought to you by no delay. We begin with two different people being taught some sort of lesson when they both leave to exchange something that the Russian teacher doesn’t seem to like. What does the Albanian teacher think? I guess that we will see later. Jay gives a speech that Blake is present for and learns that a person is withdrawing from an agreement. Can this not be the plot of so many episodes of this show? Catalonia wants to break for independence. Elizabeth is not okay with this. Henry wants to fuck his wife, but things keep distracting them. There is a Christmas tree set up, but we will see if this relates to Christmas at all

Someone named Gordon shows up and is confused in some sort of way. I can’t tell how just yet. He is the Secretary of Defense. What? I’m confused. A random woman greets Jay and talks to him about some different things. Elizabeth is upset over an article popping up over the independence in some way. It would seem that Spain alone is against Catalonia’s independence. Is it just me, or is the plot all over the place? Another news story pops up in some way that causes more issues that I can’t currently make any sense of right now. I hope that you didn’t come here looking for a good explanation on what you didn’t understand of the episode as I don’t understand it myself.

In segment two, Russell comes in with a rant as usual. Does his character have an appearance where he doesn’t do this? He is upset over what Elizabeth has done. He upsets his assistant and there are far too many clichés in this episode. People seek out the delegates. Henry then talks to Gordon about what had happened last night. Gordon blames taking too much medication on the problem.

Blake gets confused by the tea. Why is this in the episode? This show confuses me at times. Well, nearly all of the time. Elizabeth tells Blake about what he should do next. Jay then comes back and talks about the issues that NATO has been having over the fake news story. She talks to a person about what had happened and how they can move forward now. Jay learns about how serious the issue is due to all of the stories that are circulating.

In segment three, Elizabeth’s team talks about how to best address the issue at hand. Russia is thought to be the country behind the fake news story, but Elizabeth has to make sure that they have proof before they make accusations since it could be someone else. Gordon brings up Stevie when he talks to Henry. This seems creepy. A CEO named Scott might be able to help the situation be solved.

Blake then gets something approved, but needs something else approved. Jay has issues due to fishing problems with some sort of country. Jay finds Scott dressed up as Santa. They talk over the website in question that he doesn’t want to be liable for. Scott created the website that was spreading the fake news. Only he wasn’t responsible for it, it seems. How does this relate to the kids from earlier? Does it? The servers seem to explode and start fires. They had been uploaded before being destroyed.

In segment four, Elizabeth talks to someone over Skype for the umpteenth time. There was a troll farm that was going on. I guess that I will have to see later for sure if it is a real time. The man that she talks to thinks that she just wants to blame people for what’s going on. While there aren’t a lot of issues with Democrats, one of them is that they often don’t accept responsibility for their own losses and they do just blame anything and anyone else that they can.

Blake goes crazy by rearranging the dishes in the office. I don’t quite understand it. Blake then talks to a group of people over issues that are going on. But this gets him what he wants. I did not understand that at all. Henry talks about the issues with Gordon and how he might want to use potential medicine that Stevie had used to get rid of issues. Elizabeth wonders what international issues were resolved without any conflict. The Cold War comes to mind. I think that I forgot to write about something.

In segment five, Henry talks to Gordon again with Stevie and someone else in the room. Maybe there was another guy besides Gordon who had issues with Stevie. Reese was the doctor who was doing some bad issues and medicating things that he shouldn’t have. Elizabeth talks about land and violence that had disagreements of some sort. She talks about how the Russian government was responsible and she talks to the two countries with the issue over what is going on.

We then see the students from earlier united together. They seek to plant things and work together. There are no scenes from next time so I guess that we are done with episodes for the rest of this year. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Politics: The Appalling Confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh

I hope that I can cover everything that I want to in this post and not leave anything out. There are a lot of reasons why Brett Kavanaugh should not be on the Supreme Court right now. There are also very few, if any, reasons why he should be on it. What strikes me as horrifying is that he was a very unpopular nominee BEFORE the allegations against him. It can remind me of how Rod Blagojevich was the most unpopular governor in all the states before he was arrested and eventually impeached and then ousted from office. There’s a lot for me to talk about and I hope that I don’t forget to make any point that I want to.

Let’s start with the story of a person that I know. She was once kidnapped as a child. She was able to escape him, but he wasn’t ever caught or punished. If he suddenly was in the national news and was possibly had something to gain, I don’t think that she would hesitate to call him out on it. Now she doesn’t know this person’s name or much about him. But if he did show up in some way, I wouldn’t think that she would just let him continue to get away with the crime.

What doesn’t make sense to me is that so many people seem to think that if this alleged crime had happened so long ago, that it shouldn’t matter anymore. What is wrong with finally getting the justice that is deserved? Why shouldn’t someone be punished for a crime that happened a long time ago? I know that there are the stupid statutes of limitations on a lot of crimes. I would get rid of that if I could. How dare people think that crimes shouldn’t matter if they were a long time ago! You should be glad if people finally get punished. Would you still want Bill Cosby to be out on the streets doing standup after he raped so many people?

Some people also think that the accusers should have come forward sooner. Maybe it is just me, but I only recently memorized who the people on the US Supreme Court are. I have no idea who is on my state’s Supreme Court. I couldn’t tell you who is on the DC Circuit or any of the other circuits. People probably aren’t going to know who someone is at that level and it seem very unlikely that you would just randomly look those people up in the off chance that one of them might have tried to attack you back in high school.

This leads to one of the worst parts about the confirmation hearings. The moment that people came out and accused Brett of sexual misconduct, there was a quest to discredit the accusers. Honestly, I even thought at first that it was a last minute attempt to prevent him from serving on the Supreme Court. I don’t think that now. I think that we can believe Christine Ford, even if the rest of them might not be as believable in the end. I noticed that one of my friends on facebook said that hers was the only news source that showed both sides of the story (unlikely) and she only mentioned reasons why they could be fabricating things instead of why they could be right. That seemed to be so many people’s sole mission then was to prove them wrong.

Still, some might point out that the fourth woman who came forward has since admitted to lying for attention. But I find something fishy in this woman’s story relating to timing. Perhaps I could do some research to double check the information before. But I only remember there being THREE women who accused him of misconduct. Every time before he was confirmed, there was no mention of this fourth woman. Why would she only come forward after he is confirmed? Well, maybe if she were part of a quest to discredit the other women, she wouldn’t mind coming forward and casting doubts on their stories by making it seem that if one of them lied that the rest of them could be lying as well. I’ll have to check if anyone searched for this person before Brett was confirmed.

Christine admits that she has a fear of flying and people believe that she would never fly as a result of that fear. That’s got to be a stupid thing to do. If you fear flying and let that fear control your life, you will miss out on a lot of life experiences that you wouldn’t otherwise get. And if they think that her flying a lot means that she’s lying or otherwise untrustworthy. But she has a whole lot of courage to not only face her fear of flying but be that close to someone who did something bad to her, or at least tried to, allegedly.

Something that people won’t like to point out is the all hypocrisy that went on with nomination. The biggest hypocrite of them all, it seems, would be Lindsey Graham. He goes on a spiel at the confirmation hearing about how he helped sent Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to the court, but I know that he was against Merrick Garland having hearings. That is hypocrisy at its finest. The Republican’ts refused to do hearing for him. But why is this relevant? Simple: every time there was a reasonable delay in Brett’s hearings, Republicans bitched and moaned about the stall tactics that the Democrats were doing as if there was no good reason for them. Why didn’t they release the documents on time? There was no good reason for it. Even if you think that they should have never confirmed Merrick, you’d then have to wonder why Republicans are now okay with being as quick as possible with a confirmation.

What I’ve come to realize is that there are often double standards in politics today. It seems that people will always excuse Republicans for their transgressions, but never do the same for the Democrats that have scandals. Look at Al Franken. He had a scandal and besides him, there were very few people who supported him. Meanwhile, when Roy Moore is accused of a whole lot worse things, people rush to defend him. Trump doesn’t seek forgiveness for anything he has done wrong morally, let people are willing to let it slide. Why are Democrats hung out to dry while Republicans are excused for everything they ever do wrong? Almost no one I can think of defended Rod Blagojevich after his scandals but to this day, people still defend Richard Nixon as if he didn’t hire people to dig up dirt on his opponent.

Within these horrible arguments in support of Brett, people can think that he’s just blamed for a thing that he didn’t do. (Well, it wasn’t a successful attempt, but I digress.) Those people are not nearly as bad as others. Some think that all men are like this. That’s not just flat out wrong, it is also sexist and horrifying to think. Can you imagine someone using boys will be boys to explain why their client is guilty? That’s your defense? That they did it but shouldn’t be punished since they wrongly think that everyone else does it? Rape is a heinous crime and saying that it should be excused is why we have terrible things like rape culture. Me Too was much needed and, it seems that Brett Kavanaugh is a giant step backwards.

Another reasoning that’s horribly wrong is that some people think that even if the allegations are true, he should still be allowed on the court. He tried to rape someone but should have a job that will last his whole life as a result? This isn’t a good thing to think.

Sadly, the Republicans of the Trump era are acting like a fraternity of reckless frat boys who want to do anything without fear of consequences. People think that it shouldn’t matter what you did in high school and that it shouldn’t affect you later in life. Those people might have done some regrettable things that they don’t want coming back to haunt them. Maybe it is something that is understandable, but I think not. If you did something wrong in the past, you should be okay with facing consequences for it someday. While we all have made mistakes in the past, I do not see why we shouldn’t own them and explain why what we did was wrong.

Something that I’ve heard about in the future is that once there is a Democrat, people might try to pack the court with more justices. This is a terrible idea. It is good that the plan that FDR had done didn’t work. The court should always have nine justices. People should realize that. If the next Democrat packs the court, what’s to prevent the next Republican from doing the same thing when they are in charge? Now it is bitter that Republican’ts have had the majority on the court since sometime in the 1970s. That is how they have too much power.

You know what I’ve come to realize? Every conservative justice on the Supreme Court is tainted in some way. Clarence Thomas was accused of sexual harassment. When the Supreme Court sided with Bush in Bush versus Gore, they tainted the nominees of Bush, those being Samuel Alito and the chief justice John Roberts. Of course, if they had sided with Gore, that would have tainted whoever he had put on the court. We all know that Neil Gorsuch has a stolen nominee. Of course, if Hilary Clinton had won, her nomination to the vacant seat could have been tainted instead. But it might not be considered that way. Brett was accused of way worse than Clarence was. And now Clarence has been there longer than any other justice.

Let’s not try to claim that presidents don’t have the authority to name justices. There have been a good number of presidents who only became that way since they ascended to the office. They would have had nominees that were just as valid as any other. John Adams successfully had a chief justice put on the court after he had lost reelection. Gerald Ford wasn’t even elected as the vice president and he still got someone on the court. You can’t actually complain that Bush had gotten his nominees without the popular vote when it didn’t happen until after winning reelection in 2004 with the popular vote. The fact is, the only wrongs that can happen are when you don’t vote on a nominee or a vacancy happens that shouldn’t because you are goading one of the current justices into retirement.

Some may just forever cling to their belief that Brett was wrongly accused. Well, sadly, that would not mean that the rumors about him will ever go away. There will always be people who think that he did it and always people who think that he didn’t regardless of what new evidence might come in the future. Look at Casey Anthony. People are convinced that she killed her child. It doesn’t matter that the court acquitted her. People are now convinced that she got away with murder. Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy. But many people don’t see it like that. Many people think that there is a conspiracy going on despite him being the likely suspect. The point is, if all of the women recanted, there would still be some people who would think that he’s guilty. Just like if it was somehow discovered that his accusers are right, there will still be people who don’t believe the evidence.

Many people think that Christine isn’t remembering things right. Trump downright mocked her at one of his many rallies. He thinks that she didn’t know when certain things happened. But there is a lot of things that she remembers about it. Psychologists even have proof that back up how her memory has worked. A well known phrase that I’ll shorten is how people always remember how you make them feel. I can remember a lot of negative events in my life with very few details as to what particular date it might have been. Some people can or otherwise do wind up with their memories of very negative events repressed and they can’t remember it at all. But I’m sure that anyone reading this post can remember at least one negative event in their lives, but no other details about it such as when it happened or where it was.

A key detail that should not be forgotten is that Christine never claimed that Brett had raped her. She claimed that Brett TRIED to rape her. She has never claimed to be raped. But it would seem that she is a victim of ATTEMPTED rape, which, it should be noted, is still a crime. That is where I feel that the news is unintentionally phrasing words poorly.

Whoever phases words poorly are the people who think that it is okay to call these accusers bimbos. Who first said this and decided that it should be okay? Bullying is not okay, which is why this country is spiraling into pure madness. I bet it was a FOX News crazy who first said it. See? I can do it too. But it isn’t nice or something that I should be saying, just labeling people as crazy. I wonder if these people fully understand what bimbo means. I also wonder why they think that I would side with their reasoning if they resort to such childlike behavior. How can a woman who has a PHD be a bimbo? Plus, it’s a bit disturbing that the official definition of bimbo mentions that the person is considered attractive. That’s not needed. Maybe this is what bimbo actually stands for:

Bold

Intelligent

Meaningful

Brave
Overcomer

Maybe that’s what bimbo means. But there is no need for insults of any kind. That includes if you believe Christine. You don’t need to send death threats to her or to someone like Susan Collins who voted for Brett. You shouldn’t be threatening anyone. You shouldn’t insult anyone. You shouldn’t falsely accuse someone of rape just because they think that Brett was a bad choice for the Supreme Court. There are better things to do with your time than constantly disagreeing with others.

You might wonder what Trump’s reaction to the whole scandal was. Well, it was varied and it all depended on when in the scandal it was. One of the most notable things that he did was try to distract us by lying and saying that China was trying to hack us. Well, I can also distract people, which I will with this Chinese paragraph.

Something that I’ve heard come up even before he was confirmed was the talk that people might want to impeach Brett. I don’t yet know if this is a good idea. I don’t like impeachment if it simply one trying to get an unpopular person out of office. That’s not what impeachment is for. Is it possible that Brett has broken a law and deserves impeachment as a result? That is what some people are saying. They think that he committed perjury during the hearing. I do not yet know when an impeachment would happen. People would have to know that if Trump is still in charge, he would get to name the replacement. But there would also be issues with trying to get a liberal majority on the Supreme Court through his impeachment. Only one impeachment attempt has ever taken place against a justice. They survived it and remained on the court. And to show you how long ago it was, George Washington put this person on the court.

I do not know how extensive and detailed the FBI background checks are. But I do background checks for a living. I know how limited that they can be. Hopefully, the FBI has better ways of doing background checks than what I have done. Basically, I know just how limited that these things can be. They often tell you that the answer is 42, but you don’t know the question that leads to it. And you often hear in the news about some mass shooter who had no previous criminal record. Background checks won’t tell you who is a criminal if they were never charged with a crime.

I’d like to think that if a Democrat had appointed someone to the Supreme Court and then there were allegations of sexual misconduct against them, that would have been the end of the nomination. Instead, we got all of these people doing whatever they could to discredit the woman who accused him of misconduct. They are called liars, bimbos, and worse. People tried to establish a motive that was political or revenge. They failed with Christine at least. Even the woman who admitted to lying said it was to get attention, not because of a political motive. And it was incredibly weird to me that people kept thinking that this had to do with the Clintons. That is one of the reasons that he never should have been nominated. I wouldn’t want to see Robert Mueller on the Supreme Court as it would reopen old wounds. When allegations were brought against him, there should have been bipartisan backlash against him. But there wasn’t.

Ultimately, the dangers of rape culture in the world reminds me of a shocking moment that happened when I took Psychology of Woman back in college. There was a point where the professor asked the class if they knew someone who had been raped. This is a class of around 20 people. The majority of the class raised their hands. And that’s not even the shocking part. When asked if the person who did the rape was punished, only two people raised their hands. One was punished as the victim was a minor. The other was punished as he was a stranger to the victim. The rest were not punished at all. That’s disturbing. And what happened because of this confirmation will only make things worse. These women weren’t believed. And that often appears to be the case long before today anyways.

I think that’s all for this rant. I don’t think that I have many things to say about the Supreme Court and might not do as much about it next year in political posts unless a current or former justice dies. I think that Brett was a bad choice but will still give him a chance. He deserves at least that. I’d have to look up the history of the court to see who in the past might have been a worse justice. He seems like the worst one nominated that I know of. Something that I will do is think of other political posts for the future. I plan to do another memorial one next. You will see what some of the themes for other posts show up. Unless two more political posts appear in this blog before the year ends, I doubt that I will cover the Supreme Court again in a post for a bit. I do not know how many more of these you might see in the near future.
