Politics: The FBI Raid of Mar-a-Largo

I was a bit unsure what to call this post. I only wanted to mention Trump’s name in some of the blog posts that I do when every other political post covers him now in this blog so you would know for a fact that this was one of those posts. I won’t do that this time around. This is an event that is in the news now that I might as well cover. I have some things to talk about that I might as well cover in this blog post since I still have yet to finish the one on the results of the 2020 presidential election in my blog on The Good Fight. While I’m hopeful that such a thing will be published before the end of the year (possibly even in November), I should be able to get to some of what I want to cover as I write this post.

Let’s remember that in the absurb and unproven Obamagate conspiracy theory which states that Obama did something that MUST BE PROSECUTED, we learned that at the time, Trump felt that former presidents should, in fact, be charged with crimes. Does he feel the same way now? Of course not. You can never expect consistency from Republican’ts.

Many people are now jumping through hoops as to why they believe that Trump should not be able to be prosecutated at all. Does any of it make sense? Not really. I will go through a lot of the reasons that people have brought up for why he shouldn’t be prosecutated and offer up as many counterpoints to them as I can think of.

The first point that people bring up at the moment as to why they should not prosecute Trump is that it would be someone of the opposing party doing this. But that doesn’t work out. You are saying that any criminal can get away with something if the opposing party has to investigate it. Just because there is an attorney general, that it should be noted that 20 Republican senators voted in favor of, of another party, doesn’t mean that Trump is immune from prosecuation.

It doesn’t matter if this is what a Democratic attorney general would be doing to a Republican president. I doubt that this would matter much in the end. Criminals need to be held accountable. If Democrats can get rid of the corrupt Mike Madigan and Republicans can oust killer Jason Ravnsborg, then it should not matter if something like this crosses party lines. It needs to be done at all costs. If we need an independent prosecutator to do it, so be it. After all, Lisa Madigan stepped aside and it wasn’t long after she left office that her step father Michael wound up being indicted with all of the information coming to light about him. She couldn’t investigate a family member so she did what had to be done.

Do we really expect Republicans to hold Trump accountable for his crimes? I will call it right now: if Trump goes to jail, numerous Republican presidential candidates who will suddenly be in the race immediately will all have the same campaign promise: pardoning Trump. What people will forget is that pardoning often isn’t the wrongly accused getting freedom. It is people who are guilty getting a get out of jail free card. You can’t be pardoned without an admission of guilt. If there is anyone promising to pardon Trump, they are effectively admitting his guilt.

Now if I were a journalist, you would point out that what I’ve done thus far is bury the lead and not talk at all about the title of this blog post. I think that this is relevant as it is important for the FBI to be able to investigate any potential criminal, especially current or former politicians.

The other notable point against charging Trump with any crime is that it would divide the nation. But Trump has done such a good job doing that that I’d be more convinced that not charging him with any crime would divide the nation more. Plus, if Republicans didn’t want Merrick Garland to have power over criminal cases, then they never should be denied him a seat on the Supreme Court where he NEVER would have dealt with them for the rest of his life.

So finally getting to the point of this post without mentioning stuff that I felt had to be said, we get to the point where we have to get to how this relates to what I already said. You see, if you don’t already know this by now, the FBI did a raid of Trump’s resident over potential criminal acts that he may have committed. If you want to find out more about it, check out this article that may have its name changed at some point in time:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI_search_of_Mar-a-Lago

What I love most about this is the irony of this all. Irony is often what I love most about anything that gets a Republican’t in trouble. The crime that Trump is accused of breaking is something that he himself made a felony by signing a bill like that into law.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/10/trump-fbi-search-surveillance-law/

This gets into one of the few legit complaints that Republicans have about Democrats. During the covid pandemic, a lot of Democratic governors broke their own rules regarding restrictions with how things should be handled versus how they were handled. This is called “rules for thee, not for me.” The most infamous examples of this would be Gavin Newsome, which lead to his recall vote that he ultimately survived. Of course, you are unlikely to hear anything from them now that Trump might have broken a law that he himself made a crime.

I know that we will find out more about this investigation as things go along. But it will take a while for us to know the investigation. Just remember: if Trump is innocent, it shouldn’t matter if he is investigated or not. And they are able to investigate anyone they want to who may have committed any crime.

And it seems odd that many Republicans are against this considering how the FBI might have helped Republican campaigns in the past. Comey reopening the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails in October was a terrible thing to make public. And then we had the whole Hunter Biden laptop story also in October of a presidential election year that was also widely discredited story for the most part in some ways. You’d think that the FBI hates Democrats, but I’m not sure that’s true. I will say that like facebook, they are doing a good job of pissing off both sides of the political aisle.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/8/17/2117054/-The-GOP-s-calls-to-defund-the-FBI-are-not-hypocritical?pm_campaign=blog&pm_medium=rss&pm_source=main&traffic_source=Connatix

What is important if we follow Republican talking points is that the same people who think that defunding the police is ridiculous suddenly think that defunding the FBI is okay. I don’t agree with either even as I question if the FBI is neutral or not. We should reform all forms of law enforcement to improve them to be good and better forms of themselves.

And to close this article that has barely if even been on topic, I have the feeling that this will only dominate the news as we have to wonder what beyond absurb reasonings the Republicans will have to say why it is wrong for the FBI to investigate crimes but, you know, only in this one single instance because Trump should be immune from things because fuck you is why.

Politics: Why is it Always Venezuela?

There seems to be a point that the Republicans like making that isn’t always relevant, but they often like to go to it. While there are plenty of worse countries than America, it seems like the one that they are always afraid of our country becoming like is Venezuela. While they aren’t wrong per say to think this, you do have to wonder, why is that the go to problem country of today? Why do they always bring that up instead of literally any other country?

The thing is that despite all of the problems that Venezuela has, there are plenty of other issues that other countries have that Republicans don’t seem to care about or worry about the US becoming like even as it happens. We could be worrying about a country having a terrible leader who is like a cult follower like North Korea has. That is a problem like the type of person that Trump is. But they aren’t worried about it even as they let it happen.

Republicans could also be worried about us becoming a country like Russia that also has a terrible leader who stokes horrible rhetoric and tries to put their negative influence on tons of other places. But they aren’t worried about that either even as someone like Trump does a lot of those things to each other.

The reason that they bring up Venezula instead of other countries is that it seems like it is more of a problem with the left side of the political idealogy instead of the far right. They are never worried about the far right taking over the country as they watch and let it happen. They only care about issues with the other side even as we NEVER have to worry about that happening here. That is why they are always bringing up Venezulea.

Politics: Every Time Trump was Actually Right

There wasn’t much time that Trump said or did something that was actually correct in some way. It is hard to think of just how few times such a thing actually happened. But I’m going to include those rare moments in this post.

The one he seemed to get the most criticism for was when he said that women who got an illegal abortion should face some sort of punishment. But if something is a crime, then there should be a punishment for it. It was even hypothethical at the time. I don’t know what the best punishment should be in this case, but in places where it is a crime, then there should be some sort of punishment as all crimes should have.

North Korea was handled poorly at first and then Trump actually handled it better later. While one might question whether or not we should be cozying up to dictators like that, it should be us trying to make sure that they are not a threat while also being ready to turn on them when they cross a line at a moment’s notice. It was like how the Cuban thaw worked under Obama.

ISIS was something that was unlikely that a president could get wrong. Trump didn’t take out the whole threat of ISIS (as we would later learn during the fall of Kabul), but he was right to take a hard line on them and could take out their former leader, Mr. Bagheady Bad Guy (I don’t like to call a mass killer by their real name, if I say their name at all or just their label).

When it came to non-essential businesses reopening, Trump did at one point say that it should not happen. This was perhaps the only thing that he got right and only very briefly when it came to his handling of the pandemic. And it came with him turning on his once ally Brad Rafenberger after once endorcing his terrible ideas. Remember the last political post on Trump?

I realize that there is a current event that I will cover two days from now because you will see this blog both Saturday and Sunday in addition to today (which is Friday in partial blogger time since I’m getting to this too late). Anyways, enjoy this post and await another two soon.

Cast Update 8-2-2022

While finally giving you not one, but two reviews that I should have had done a very long ass fucking time ago, I should tell you that while the reason that I don’t always see movies in theaters recently anymore is largely my fault, there is a way that it is their fault. Too much about how movies are done have changed. There is too quick a turnaround from when a movie is in theaters until it is out on DVD with not enough time to see the movie even if it does well. Plus, theaters as in cinemas are often doing a stupid thing by putting movies back in theaters that have already had their runs and are on DVD already instead of showing more of the newer films that we are interested in. I can only hope that I can see one of the next two movies coming out or already out in theaters while I still can.

Tea Leoni: She will be in a project called Endangered, which will be a movie. There are no other things that I see her in right now besides that. I don’t know when they finished filming the show, but you’d think that those who are still doing projects will have stuff right now to do (if that makes sense).

Endangered: This is a movie about the lives of threatened species. We’ll see what role she has in it. The website I’m checking makes it seem like she’ll be lending her voice to it so maybe it will be some sort of documentary. The release date is unknown now.

Bebe Neuwirth: She’s had a recurring bit on Blue Bloods and may show up on it from time to time. There are other minor things that she has done. It appears that she will be in a new movie called Julia. She will also be in something new called Teenage Euthanasia. Yet another thing that she will be in will be Ultra City Smiths. I hope to see what I can of this.

Julia: This is a show about Julia Child, the chef. It is available now on HBO Max. It first became available on 3-31-2022. There is a trailer for this that I will talk about. I might not care about missing the show even if I’m coming to like some cooking shows.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZBacZqwbCA

Thoughts on trailer: This looks way more interesting than I ever would have thought that it might be. Who would have thought that a woman would need to overcome cooking sterotypes? It seems like there is a lot more going on here than might need to be, but there isn’t much else to say about this. I doubt that I’ll be able to see it without borrowing this from my sister’s family for a moment, but it could be fine regardless of it I wind up seeing it in the future or not.

Teenage Euthanasia: Considering how the title talks about assisted suicide, one can be a bit unsure how this could turn into a good story. But the plot is more complicated than that and hard to sum up easily. The show is out now. There is a trailer for this:

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T8HAs-5oX4

Thoughts on trailer: So this looks strange, but I was already expecting it. I guess that it is far too grim for even FOX by featuring mature content that not even that network would allow. I’m glad that the trailer explains a lot about the series, but I’m not upset that I’m going to be missing any of this in the end.

Ultra City Smiths: This is a TV show about two people looking for a missing celebrity. Will they find what they are looking for? One can only hope since that’s what the show is about. This is out now. I do not know what network this is on or what time it airs. There is a trailer for this now:

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qthWw6NPMA

Thoughts on trailer: This looks weird and I probably would have liked it better if it were live action focusing on a more serious plot. I can’t gather much from the trailer, but there sure are a hell of a lot of people in it. And I guess that’s all that I can make sense of it for now. What else is there to say?

Geoffrey Arend: He will be in a project called Physical, a TV show. I’m glad that he could find something at long last. Hopefully, he’ll do a bunch more things all worth keeping track of in this blog and worth watching as well if I can see them at all.

Physical: This is a TV show, but too much about this is unknown at this point in time. It is out now on Apple TV. It also has a trailer that I will be talking some about. It is a very new thing and imdb isn’t revealing much about it now as a result. But we’ll find out more about this over time.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQTFdslwJYo

Thoughts on trailer: I’m not entirely sure what to make of this. It doesn’t seem that bad, but it doesn’t seem anywhere close to good either. It is going for something maybe a bit different, but I can’t really get behind it that much. I was never one for the 80s as I wasn't even born yet and really only get stuff out of it from when I see The Goldbergs. It doesn’t seem all that interesting to me really.

Kathrine Herzer: She hasn’t been doing much since the show ended or now, it seems. Maybe she is going back to a more normal life. Not all the child actors or actresses continue into the field when they get older as they want to do other things in life. Remember the people from Shining Time Station?

Evan Roe: Again, this person has not been doing much after the show ended. I guess it hasn’t been over long enough or a lot of these people just haven’t found a new job yet, at least in the Hollywood industry. You’d think that the filming would have ended long enough ago, but maybe not.

Tim Daly: The time has come to say what this man is finally doing after Madam Secretary as he finally has something new in the works now. He is set to be in The Game, a TV show. He is also now in Finestkind. That’s it for now.

The Game: This is a TV series about black culture and how it regards to football. It could be good and is a continuation of CW show from a while ago that also aired on BET. This is available now on Paramount+. I am not currently planning on watching it.

Finestkind: I’m guessing that this is a movie or supposed to be. It has an unknown date of release at the moment. It is about two brothers finding themselves trapped in issues with organized crime people. There is no trailer yet.

Zeljko Ivanek: He is finally set to be in something called Now and Then, which is a TV show. Maybe we’ll see more of his acting in the future or maybe we won’t. He is also in The Last Duel, a movie. Another thing that he will be in is Let the Right One in.

Now and Then: This is a TV series about a group of Hispanic friends meeting again years after one of them is found dead. It is available now. It is on Apple TV+. It could be good, but it doesn’t sound original. There is a trailer for this now:

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfyk7tbtTN4

Thoughts on trailer: Well, this looks like it could be interesting and also complicated in different ways. It seems to focus too much on clichés, although I couldn’t guess who might be guilty in the end of anything (it might be all of them). I don’t think that I’ll miss much by not being able to see it, even if some of this could be good.

The Last Duel: Set in Medieval times, two people are set to duel to settle a dispute of some sort or another. This is on DVD now so you might be able to see it there if you want to. I finally have seen this now so I can review it for you.

Review: Movie Name- The Last Duel. Genre: Historical drama. Rating- R. Noteworthiness- This is based off of true event, even told from three different perspectives. Description- A woman accuses a man of raping her so her husband challenges this man to trial by combat to the death. Madam Secretary Alumni in it- Zeljko Ivanek plays one of the people involed with the trial leading into the duel. Pros- It offers a very interesting perspective on sex crimes and how myths about them can still renosate today. One will probably like the ending or outcome of what happens in the movie if you can get through it. Cons- The subject of the movie is very grim. It seems to waste time repeating scenes at different points without changing much of anything. Some of the character choices don’t make much sense. You see the rape scene twice instead of just once. Note to Parents- The scene where the character is raped is in there and shown on camera, although it is not nearly as gruesome as it could be. There are other sexual related things in here such as nudity and an orgy. There’s a lot of language and violence. Recommendation- It is hard to say. I would not want to own this movie. I don’t regret watching it. It might be good to see in some occasions or for some people to see. Otherwise, this is probably too dark a subject for most people. IMDB Ranking: 7.4 My Grade: C.

Let the Right One in: This doesn’t have a trailer yet. It is set for release sometime in 2022. This is a vampire drama that I believe is based on an existing movie that was also already remade into a movie before, albeit much earlier and too soon after the old one was just out from what I understand of it.

Erich Bergen: He’s also not doing much yet as of the show ending. After appearing in some episodes of the final season of Bull, I’ll have to wait to see what else he is up to in the future after this. I can only hope that he does more in the future.

Patina Miller: She is the narrator of a show called Word Party. That’s all that she’s doing for now. I think that she’s a mother so that may affect how much work she’ll be able to do. We’ll see what goes on in her life and I hope she can do something I can watch. It turns out that she is in The Many Saints of Newark. There’s nothing else to mention just yet.

Word Party: This is a Netflix kids show that is available now. Patina is the narrator of it. I don’t know much about it. I doubt that I will be able to see it in the future. This show is about teaching others how to talk and learning simple things like that.

The Many Saints of Newark: This is a prequel to the TV show The Sopranos. It is a movie. I don’t know at what point her role became known in this because it came as a bit of a surprise for me. It is currently on DVD. I finally have a review of this now after having seen it.

Review: Movie Name- The Many Saints of Newark. Genre: Mob movie. Rating- R. It deserves it in many ways. Noteworthiness- This is a prequel to the show The Soparanos. Description- An Italian crime family goes through various issues while a black crime family is also there as well. Madam Secretary Alumni in it- Patina Miller plays some character in the film. I couldn’t tell who. No wonder her role in the film wasn’t announced until after the film was out. No one could tell until the credits that she was even in here. I can’t even remember there being a black woman in the film at all. Pros- There is a lot of character development in here. Cons- There are a ton of these so bear with me. More will be covered in the note to parents section. For a movie that promotes itself as the origin story of Tony Soparano, he is barely in this. One can’t gather much about who these characters are and why we care about them. There are no good guys in this or people to root for. The cops are barely in this and when they are, they are portrayed negatively. This focuses a lot on a black family and not on the Soparanos which isn’t so much of a problem outside of the fact that these competing storylines are largely unrelated for the most part. There is far too much negative sterotypes about Italians in here. I have no idea what the title of this movie has to do with anything. Note to Parents- There is a lot of on screen murder, a lot of it senseless. A woman is seen having an affair, during a sex scene, where you see her breasts. A lot of blood and violence is in this. Students are seen cheating in their work. There is a lot of bad language in here. Recommendation- This is such a horrible film with absolutely no redeeming value. If this is anything like the TV show, I’m glad that I’ve never seen that. Don’t watch this ever. It is terrible. IMDB Ranking: 6.3. My Grade: F.

Wallis Currie-Wood: She has done very little outside of the show. Maybe she will do something more in Hollywood or maybe not. It will be hard to understand some of why I’m not seeing much in terms of what the cast is doing in the future unless or until more time passes.

Keith Carradine: He has two projects in the works. One is called Sallywood. The other one is called The Daylong Brothers. We’ll see what happens between those and anything else that he does. I look forward to hopefully seeing these films at some point in time. Maybe more will happen in the future. He’s also in the new season of Fear the Walking Dead.

Sallywood: This movie romantic in some way, but I don’t know if it’s a comedy or not. It is about a man who moves to Hollywood and becomes a woman’s personal assistant. They’ll be more to it than that. It has an unknown release date at this time.

The Daylong Brothers: This has an unknown release date at this time. It is about three brothers who try to get revenge on their father for selling their souls. This could be interesting, even if I don’t really like to watch horror films. But this could just be normal supernatural.

Fear the Walking Dead: This is an AMC show that is a spin-off of the original Walking Dead. At first, it was a prequel set at the start of the zombie outbreak. Now, it is set sometime later during the same time frame as the original. I don’t know when or if I’ll be able to see this, but will include this in the updates for as long as Keith is in it.

Sebastian Arcelus: It looks like he will appear in a TV movie or perhaps potential pilot called Blanco. He’s doing better than others in terms of projects in the works. That is it for now. Maybe there will be more, but I think that’s it for now.

Blanco: This has an unknown release date at the moment. It is about a criminal who seeks to work with the cops only to build his criminal empire. I have no idea what network this would air on, if any. This might be just another in a long line of passed pilots that I get confused about and wind up in this blog for a long time like what you might have seen in my CSI: Cyber blog.

Sara Ramirez: We’ll see what else she might do in the future. It could be a lot or not much at all. One source is now saying that her show, And Just Like That, is returning for a season 2 after all. And there have been rumors for a while now that she might be returning for a guest appearance or so in Grey’s Anatomy. Other than those two roles, I don’t see anything mentioned of hers for now.

Kevin Rahm: There isn’t much to talk about for him right now. But I did find something for him. He will be in Life by Ella. It is nice to see something that is worth covering in this blog for once. There wasn’t much else to ever mention about him before.

Life by Ella: This is set for release in 2022. This is about a middle school aged girl who seems to be an optimist in a world set to destroy that type of person. I don’t yet know where this might air or if it will go past the pilot stage or not.

Barbara Hall: I will see what future, if any, she might have in the TV or movie industry. You’d think that she’d be doing something at some point or another, but maybe she won’t be at least for a while. I guess that I’ll keep her in the updates since only death would get rid of someone.

Schedule
